Hi Everyone

This is my first post on here.

Ok so... for my honeymoon my fiance and I booked all our flights through our agent who booked through Qantas.

We have booked:

Sydney - Nai (Air Pacific operated by Qantas (not sure what that means)

Nadi - Honolulu (Air Pacific operated by Qantas)

Honolulu - LAX - (American Airlines operated by Qantas)

LAX - SYDNEY (Qantas)

Ok, so I joined Qantas Club today and my question is...how can we get upgraded on these flights??/

Ideally, our Fiji-Honolulu and LAZ - Sydney.

Apparently Air Pacific have some kind of pay at the airport deal??

Do you think because we joined Qantas Club that will give us more of a chance of an upgrade or not?

Our LAX-SYDNEY ticket is apparently a non-upgradable fare?? (I had no idea about this until this morning - it was loads cheaper).

Can anyone help us with upgrade advice? Especially seeing as I have now joined the Qnatas Club (through a corporate rate) we are hoping and praying this will give us a free upgrade on at least one of our flights??

Thanks everyon!!

Not quite sure how this works. What flight number do you have? QF doesn't fly from NAN to HNL. I think you may find that this is flown by Air Pacific and numbered with a QF codeshare.

Honolulu - LAX - (American Airlines operated by Qantas)

Ditto for my comment above. QF will not be operating this flight. I would strongly suggest this will be an AA flight.

LAX - SYDNEY (Qantas)
This will be a QF flight on a QF aircraft. This flight can be upgraded if you have the points and the fare class is suitable.

Sorry but you chances are pretty slim. As a regular QP (Qantas Club Member) you are second from the bottom in the upgrade order once an upgrade on points has been requested. LAX-SYD leg is a heavy business load and upgrades are very hard to come by.

NAN-HNL is on AA so not upgradeable via QF points. I cannot comment on the upgrade policy of Air Pacific.

Free upgrades are called op-ups (operational upgrades) and are so rare we report one to the forum if one is obtained. I have only ever received 1 in many years. QP will make the journey at the airport nicer but you will only be able to use it in SYD, HNL (if QF lounge is open) and LAX.

Economy isn't that bad, just make sure you are prepared for it. Comfy clothes and an inflatable pillow help immensely.

Thanks everyon!!
