Qantas club BA lounge access

So flying Qantas from Heathrow to Melbourne, we are both Club Members (and Hubby Gold FF, formerly Platinum) we can use the BA club, assuming Qantas don't have one?

And flying BA from BCN to HRW we can also use BA club in Barcelona?

At Heathrow there is no Qantas lounge, however you will get into the BA business class lounge with either Qantas club or Qantas gold.

Barcelona is a little more tricky. There BA uses a 3rd party lounge. This usually means access is only granted to Club Europe (business class) and BA status holders, meaning Qantas club and Qantas Gold is not accepted (I got caught out with this in Dublin a few times when BA used to fly there). Having said that though if, as I suspect the 3rd party lounge that BA uses is the Iberia lounge, then OneWorld Sapphire (Qantas gold) will get your hubby and you in, but Qantas club certainly won't. And if the lounge is not Iberia then even Qantas gold will not be accepted, but always worth a try.

Below is a link to all BA lounges showing which ones are BA and which are 3rd party. Pity BA doesn't say which lounges in Europe are operated by other OneWorld partners like it does in Asia and Australia.

Thankyou for all the info! Sure is a tricky thing these lounges. The main one for us is the Heathrow lounge as we have a few hours between the BCN arrival and the Qantas departure!

I have been to the BA third party lounge in BCN, it is not an Iberia operated lounge, I was granted access as flying J to LHR, not sure what effect OW status has on access. The lounge is OK, fairly newish decor with quiet/ sleep areas and a reasonable selection of drinks.
Food was self serve snacks.

QP may not do it, but as a Qantas oneworld Sapphire, your husband and one guest are entitled to use of any designated business class lounges at the departure airport of a oneworld partner airline before departing on a oneworld flight.

Only caveats are that the lounge is 1) physically accessible to you, and 2) open.

When you bring up a specific lounge in the link your provided, you will see cavet #3 on the very bottom in small print which says "Access may not apply at a limited number of third party lounges.". My experience, living in Europe between 2007 and earlier this year as a Qantas Platinum has been the opposite of you. I have been denied access whilst flying economy in the BA 3rd party lounges Dublin, Vienna and Copenhagen. Though in Dublin the first time I went there (2007) I did get access, but the next 2 times no access and the only times I flew economy to Vienna and Copenhagen no access. Interestingly though I have flown 3 times to Zürich, every time in economy and have been granted access to the 3rd part lounge there all 3 times, the last time they even let me have two guests.

So guess the rule is with 3rd party lounges, if you get in you get in, if you don't then don't make a scene, nor expect the airline or OneWorld website to clarify matters.
