I've just signed up for my Gold Membership on AFF! I'm gonna go for it! :D

Having plummeted from Platinum via gold to silver, I purchased a 4 year QP membership. It has the benefits of allowing you and a guest to use AA and BA lounges when flying with those airlines plus all the benefits other posters have mentioned. I even bought a Priority Pass last year because I would be flying on other OW airlines apart from QF, AA and BA. QP membership is well worth it if you wish to avoid the hurly burly of the terminal.

My thought is that if you need someone to convince you to pay the money over, then you don't feel that it would be worthwhile for you. It is only worth it if you think it is worth it

You're spot on Dave that's how I thought about it in then end. The benefits are there and the cost can be an early 21st Birthday present to myself!:D:D

And it should be noted that the status is all you need... show the a a boarding pass with QC on it and that is all that is needed...

But don't try and sneak into the QC in Sydney's T2 by just flashing your QC card when you are flying DJ. It's so small there's just a desk where they'll swipe your card to get your BP... and if you're not flying with them... bye bye!

Depending on how much you use it for work, and you need to see professional advice, but you may be able to claim some/all of the cost as a tax deduction offsetting a large portion of it.

Or even easier if you can arrange it - get it done via Salary Sacrifice. Unless the FBT rules have changed since I was doing it that way (possible, so again need professional advice), airline club memberships incurred no FBT - making it in effect completley deductible (before tax) without any concern about how much it is used for work. On second thoughts, you probably wouldn't need the professional advice, if Salary Sacrifice is available to you, the relevant provider will know the current FBT situation, and be able to let you know.

Thanks to all, I have now sent my forms to admin to add the corp number. Looking forward to getting my QP status and card in the coming weeks!

Congrats to the OP (uzza) - enjoy!

I wish QP could do a deal with CX - it's like the missing link and surely wouldnt be that hard.

Congrats on joining. I wish that there was a deal with CX and other OW carriers. The Priority Pass I bought last year enabled me to access lounges while I was flying with Malev and Iberian in Europe. Such is the plight of Silver status.

I think you may have convinced me in there too.

Now if the damn AMAQ would confirm my membership so I could get their corporate price!

I bought QP membership back in 2005 and never looked back. I reckon i drunk my 2 year membership fee in a matter of months. Now that I am SG, i still have 12 months left in my membership should I fall to Silver.

I also prefer to get to the airport early, as I usually beat the peak hour traffic in Melbourne. The flip side is I arrive and have time to eat breakfast, have a coffee and read some of the paper and it is usually time to board.

This is something that I hadnt thought about too strongly but it is an absolute winner for me. I have been OWE for a couple of years now and the F checkin(J for you in this case) is a real joy.

Y+ check-in on international where it is offered now, only J check-in if there's no Y+ check-in queue...

There's less Y+ seats on the flights so logic would have it that the Y+ line would be smaller, so having QP checking in there makes sense. As long as there's still a check in line that's separate to Y (Y+ or J queue) then I'll be happy :)

QF website is not up with this. Is this signage/experience you've seen somewhere? It's not illogical, but also does not necessarily follow that QP should queue at Y+ rather than J. After all, QP and J gives lounge access, Y+ does not.

Th only ports offering Y+ services would, I think, be MEL, SYD, SIN, HKG, BKK, LHR, LAX, JFK? (maybe SFO)

MEL and (presumably) SYD have designated QP checkins (shared with Silver?). I'm unsure about whether the other ports offer designated QP checkin.

Not likely to inconvenience QPers in a practical sense. As uzza said, there are far fewer Y+ seats than J (though how many are actually occupied could well make a difference)

I've seen it at SYD while queueing up for the good old JQ35 SYD-MEL (QF check-in is across the path).

Ta... I guess as long as QP doesn't have to line up with Y (dread the thought ) then can live with Y+.

Update: Got my QP status online today, great turnaround. Only posted off the forms to admin on Thursday and have status on Monday! A++ Can't wait to use it! :D:D:D:D
