Qantas club denied Qantas lounge access on partner award bookings?

Before Covid we used QFF points to fly J to FIJI and of course it was on FJ with an FJ flight number. But being J we did get access to the business lounge at SYD but although both OWEs as per the rules we couldn't access the F lounge.

General question from me to AFF… all the literature I’m reading now seems to make no reference to QF club reciprocal access to AA lounges when travelling solely on AA codes flights?
Anecdotally such access still exists and until last year was published so. This was recently unpublished.

Well, on Qantas to the USA you’ll have no problems :)

Pretty sure there’s another thread on this confirming it’s still a thing. But I can’t find it.

Yep. This whole issue is limited to redeeming QF points for partner whY flights (including OW partners if you don’t have OWE/S and only QP). Even QF WP in whY won’t get lounge access on China Eastern or China Airlines (although happy to be corrected).

One of the oddities is SB - they book with QF codes for CRs.

As far as I recall, this has always been the case. But I guess prior to the EK partnership and JQ coming into existence, the majority of QFF’rs booking CRs in whY departed internationally on QF or BA (both would get international QP access).

As mentioned earlier, QP has primarily been a domestic lounge program for ~25 yrs now since the formation of OW where OW status trumps QP. But you still can’t get to the lounge on FJ code as OWE (for now) even though it’s a OW Connect partner.

Yes, I recall there being a thread about it, but I thought someone had found the wording that QP still gets access to AA.

If it’s still there, they’ve certainly hidden it well!

I have had access to the Admirals Club in the US using a Qantas Club card as recently as June 2024.
