RSL clubs have been able to set and enforce guidelines for years, a club (not RSL) I'm a member of in Sydney is very stringent about the dress rules and it's easy and clear, nothing torn, no midriff exposure and enclosed footwear for men. (the rest is no demin and must have a tie, coats optional during the months of daylight saving for anyone interested)

While I certainly don't expect lounge suits as manditory for QF a few basics like an RSL; enclosed footwear, collars and no torn clothes is a good start.

And no tears shows that money can't buy class. Some jeans are literally $100/ tear

Rebel Rebel, you've torn your dress
Rebel Rebel, your face is a mess
Rebel Rebel, how could they know?
Hot tramp, I love you so!

..

I have a genuine question that I don't think I'll be flamed for here.. exactly when did they communicate this? ...
On February 12th ...see this post: ( http://www.qantas.com.au/agents/dyn/qf/info/201502/0213 )

In response to customer feedback, our minimum smart casual dress guidelines will be more closely applied to all visitors entering our Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney Qantas Clubs or Business lounges from 1 April 2015. Entry may be refused at the discretion of the lounge staff if visitors do not meet the appropriate standard. We want to create a comfortable atmosphere in our lounges that all visitors can enjoy

Interesting memo read upside down at a QF lounge today.

"Apparently some staff have been confusing thongs and sandals"...

Then went on for a bit and a large picture of a haviana thing.

So seemingly some complaints around.

I suspect that was the sum of it.. But too hard to read multiple paras upside down.

Almost laughed when I got through the first line

Yeah but some people need to double thong for the family jewels.... So there lies the confusion :0

Thongs were never the issue in the lounges it is the hi vis clothing and steel cap work boots that the workers look like they have just stepped off the work site. Yet Qantas allow this but a lady in nice thongs. Totally whacked view of what is acceptable.

Try making this statement in the United States and see how it is taken.... :D (but I digress)

re High Vis.. I could care less if they are clean and acceptable - remember in PER most of the high vis crowd *have* just stepped off the site. My issue (personally) is hygene and behaviour and I could care less if it was high vis or corporate types or the lady in the dress sandals and $2500 handbag.

btw QF also see the high vis types as cash cows, so the last they they want to do - for better or worse - is piss off that business. I'm just sayin'

So where do Jandals fit in to this? :D

Walking into SYD Business lounge a few minutes ago and person came out from behind counter to greet lady in front of us and advised her she was not allowed into lounge with thong type footwear and if she had any other footwear to wear.

Saw her entering a few minutes later in ankle boots.

I'm under the impression that ALL of this new policy action is occuring ONLY in DOMESTIC lounges and NONE is occuring in INTERNATIONAL lounges.
Is my understanding correct, or has the policy also spilled across to International?

My apologies, I should have used some words like: I know that the policy as written only applies to the domestic lounges, but I wonder whether in practice its also been witnessed spilling into International.

As we all know: In theory there should be no difference between therory & practice, but in practice there usually is...

I'm in the BME QP at the moment and I can guarantee you there is no hint of this policy being remotely enforced:p

I don't think they would attempt it internationally as too much choice of equal/better carriers if they annoy people. Domestically perhaps more of a captive audience?
