Qantas Club International Check-in

I can confirm that DPD is a straight forward process but you may need to be patient with some parts such as scanning the RFID chip on your passport. Generally you should do it a few days in advance. One thing I found confusing was on the day before I was to depart I received a notice from DFAT that my DPD was incomplete despite its status being submitted. Showed up to the airport and had no trouble checking in. About a day after landing in SYD I received a further email from the DFAT that it was approved!

I had exacrly the same experience last week too. Gives you confidence in the system doesn't it...
 
Not to unearth this thread but was just wondering if people had anymore data points on using priority check-in as a QC member at international terminals?

Anyone seen the bollards/signage for QC check in lanes amongst status holders and/or PE recently?
 
2018 was a long time ago though (for airlines), things have changed quite a bit.. so I was hoping for some more updated/recent information given that fact. ☺️

Plus that sign looks like it might relate to the premium bag drop rather than check in desks.

As a Qantas Club member, access a range of domestic check-in options regardless of your class of travel. Check-in your way using the Qantas App or online.
So I think it's meant to be domestic only. Now as to whether this was "enhanced" at some point to remove international, or whether it was always like this and the stuff above was a happy error? Not sure.

It mentions Premium Economy but not Qantas Club

But then again that sign doesn't have OW Ruby, and Rubys are supposed to be able to use Business check-in...

You might be right here. This is what the Qantas website for check-in states under International airport check-in:

International premium services​

First passengers, Platinum Frequent Flyers and oneworld Emerald members are able to check-in at the dedicated First Check In Suite at selected international airports, and fast-track through Immigration.
Premium passengers (Business and Premium Economy), Gold and Silver Frequent Flyers, and oneworld Ruby members have access to dedicated Premium Service Desks in all international ports.

Then again, I really pity those holding Qantas Platinum One since they do not qualify for neither First or Business class check-in. Thank goodness I'm aiming just for Qantas World Platinum status next year!

In terms of upgrades strictly, I'd say United is the best hands down. Where else can you upgrade Europe to Australia from a deep discount economy fare for 35,000 miles + $650 USD in taxes and fees? Indeed I flew them back in January 2020 from Heathrow to Sydney (via LAX) with my upgrades to Polaris business on both segments clearing at the check-in window. At the very least, there are worse ways to spend 35,000 miles than 25 hours in Polaris business class and 5 hours at the Polaris lounge at LAX!

“Express Path“ as we knew it isn’t operating at SYD at the moment. Only F/J BP holders and the occasional “green” sticker get Q jumper access. At least the F checkin is back open for all WPs/ OWEs (oh, and people actually in F).

As for relegated QP members, I’d just go to one of the plethora of self-check kiosks and bag drop. The only hiccup is if you need to produce document checks but there are staff roaming.
 
At MNL T3 a few weeks ago there was a separate QC checkiin line/desk which was deserted when I was there and was being used for J/status pax.

I am aware (unfortunately), t'was a sarcastic comment.

Do you know if F check in is open early morning now, or still only opening for QF1?
