Just a note to anyone who, like me, has this type of membership... I logged on today, I haven't travelled on any carrier for a few years now but account is still active and points still valid and the last few flights I had were with QF.
I'm used to logging in and seeing my FF number and alongside it... "Qantas Club Bronze".
It no longer says Qantas Club however - only "Bronze".
No reference to Qantas Club in my profile and when I click on renew it gives me renewal options - when previously it used to respond with a message "There is no need to renew your membership as you are a Qantas Club Life Member".
I called the FF Service Centre - the guy was very helpful and after several times being put on hold as he consulted more and more senior supervisors/managers he came back and assured me that I indeed was STILL a Qantas Club Life Member and that he can 'confirm' that my Qantas Club Membership 'expires' on the 1st of July 2097.
He said that it was explained to him that because Qantas has not offered these memberships for nearly 10 years now that they have removed reference to them on their website and FF profile pages - I'm assuming this is an IT measure but it is somewhat disconcerting that the profile doesn't indicate it anymore - does this mean I will HAVE to carry my card with me at all times and that it also won't print on the Boarding Pass as 'Qantas Club Bronze' (or whatever status I am at the time) - has anyone experienced this.
I think it's a little underhanded on the surface, that someone who doesn't ask the question would end up paying for a membership they've already paid for at high cost.

There are well documented glitches with the QF site since they tried to update it a fortnight ago.

If the system still recognises you as QP Life, I am not sure it will let you pay to renew the membership?

I still have my old QP blue LT card.No one recognises it but I just point out the lifetime on it and that I haven't expired as yet.

Thanks - yeh I have mine but also have the newer red one with Life on it (with the chip). So, that makes me feel better. I was worried before I called them that this was some fine print rubbish that had come through in an email that I was supposed to respond to or forego the membership but happily not so.

I wasn't game to go any further than the options on the page - lest I inadvertently purchase... so I just backed out and called them. Seems I'm not the only one then - I had to go through 2-3 supervisors before they assured me it was still valid.

Mine isn’t blue, but I haven’t needed it since being WP for a few years, when (and if) i eventually make LTG it will be tinged with just a wee bit of sadness.

I had a look at the site to renew a family members QP membership, and it is full of glitches. I don't think there are any intentional changes at the moment, more dealing with the spot fires from their updates a fortnight ago...

I think you're spot on mannej - I had a look at the iPhone/iOS App and logged out and back in again and on the 'My FF' tab it shows my name, membership number, points and ... yes... "Qantas Club Bronze" - so, I wasn't aware of the IT problems they had but I see now and you're right - they've obviously done an update on the full/web version and are putting out spot fires and bugs are showing up everywhere.

Life membership means life membership …. of the program. It will only expire when either you, or QFF dies.
