Has anyone got the inside tip if and when Qantas will change the type of snacks available in the SYD/MLB lounges?
For over four years I put up with salami, cheese and the SOS! Thank god there is Hungry Jacks downstairs!

There have been some changes in the last few weeks.

Higher quality cheese and meat, improvements in the hot food.

Hopefully one small step in the right direction!

A couple of years ago, QC went through a phase of serving vast quantities of tiny, greasy, stone cold ham and cheese croissants. You got them in the lounge, you got them on the flight, you got them for breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and supper. I was flying at least once a week that year and geez, was I sick of those bloody croissants.

I miss the Golden Wing lounge! Though I often feel a bit guilty that they collapsed the day after a group of colleagues and I had eaten several thousand hot hors d'oeuvre-y things and put away a few bottles of wine while waiting for a delayed flight in Adelaide. I have a sneaking suspicion we might have tipped the balance...

(My bolding)

That's in MEL. Unfortunately, SYD still appears to have the same old stuff.

A little while back a colleague and I were waiting in the Cairns QP for our BNE late afternoon flight. As sometimes happens in Cairns QP, a lovely lady was offering lounge members samples of some Pinot Noir Chardy she was flogging so we put down our basic Chardys and partook of this palatable sparkle, several times I believe.

I should add that we had just secured a decent plate of sausage rolls and sauce following the 4pm hot food scrum and I couldn't help remark to her after she was explaining what side of the hill it was grown and the vines exposure to sunlight etc etc the immortal line ..... "THIS is living...!!

Saw the changed food in both Adelaide and Melbourne. Think Brisbane too, but can't remember. Assumed it had been rolled out fully.

I wish you guys get the airport codes right at least. Big difference between Florida and Australia. :!: :!: :!: MEL - MEL melbourne australia.

Hrrumph .. or other unspellable pronunciations .... obviously no one took the bait from my previous that there is little or no hot or even warmed food in the QP until the 4pm scramble that makes some of the QP patrons identify with locust swarms. I've found TSV QP is probably up there for good pm warm food without a fight.

Have we decended to some undignified behaviour to secure a warmed unidentifiable "morsel" late each arvo, overlooking the thin salads, cheese and wafer biccies to be left for tomorrows crowd?

My plea to Mr Dixon is - dont remove the conveyor belt toasters in the morning. Apart from being the only source of warmed product, this is great entertainment watching the patrons wondering what duct their toasted product is to be emitted from.

Yes, I've found the same at TSV, although finding a place to sit once you have your food can be difficult! :(

Well I had caught the 5pm hot food scrum at Syd for the last 31 weeks in a row and I was getting pretty fed up with the entire menu.

My usual is to get a large glass of Lemon, Lime and Bitters, plonk that on my seating area and then fill up on diced potato, some bread (falaffel type) with the chicken loaf and wait until 5pm.

Upon seeing the mad rush, I will patiently wait until the meat Pies are out, I did not like the 'wedges', and grab maybe 5 of them, burn my tongue because I have to scoff them down quickly to get my 5.30pm flight and then bolt down to the departure gates.

I would like to see a bit of variety as well. Maybe something like pastries, krispy kreme doughnuts (hehe) or proper sandwiches but into soldiers (like in the Singapore lounge).

Regards
Daniel

Indeed - the BA lounges at LHR T4 serve sandwiches in 1/4 triangles and they're great - perfect lounge food for any time of day.

Not so sure I agree about the the Krispy Kremes! I'm tempted to stop every time I walk past the well-stocked outlet in T2, and my kids always implore me to drive through the store on the main road to take them home a dozen.
