Qantas Club Nadi

But was the reason for this that your Air Pacific flight left 3 hours late (standard) so you arrived home at 2am

Nope! Thats the other weird bit! Flight departure was due at 12.15 pm.
we started boarding - full flight - at 11.50 - pulled back at 12.15 and touched down on time at 14.35 footpath 15.00!! :D cheers

Regarding the Tabua club the ridiculous thing is that QF owns half of Air Pacific and provides them with many facilities and services, including most of the fitout of the Tabua club lounge at Nadi, most of which was free cast-offs from old Qantas club lounges that Qantas club members effectively paid for :!:

The other ridiculous thing is that the airline is run by ex-QF executives - in fact they are probably all on secondment!

I suspect that Flight Crew are also ex-QF or on secondment.

The reason that the decision to ban QClub members from the lounge gets so much ridicule is that it wouldn't cost QF, APacific or anyone for that matter much to let them in. It is a large Club and usually empty so no one would be inconvenienced!

Agreed! except crew are Fijian.

BTW - does Qantas read this site, in general? Is there any rule that says we can or cannot suggest they read stuff about how petty they are?

On a bright note - is this a record for an international economy passenger? Touchdown to loading bags into car - 25 minutes.
That is very good.

I have been home in less than 45 minutes with the taxi trip taking ~15-20 minutes.

I am almost certain that there are QF lurkers on AFF. Whether any of our comments are taken seriously is anyones guess....

I cannot see why it is petty that a lounge which is neither a Qantas Club nor a BA lounge does not permit access to Qantas Club members

I doubt there is such a rule, just as I would be surprised if no-one from Qantas read this site at all. However, I would think the best action would be to send feedback to Qantas directly.

Whats Petty ... Read the rest of the thread! So what if its not QC or BA?
In short..
QF owns half of AP
It WAS a joint lounge Tabua Club / QC
Gold & WP ARE allowed entry but not fee paying QC members
TC members DO have reciprical rights
QF blames AP; AP refers you to QF
That's what's Petty!;)

easy. because the terms of the Qantas Club are pretty clear. By that argument , if Emirates doesn't let a Qantas Club member in, then it is being petty

In short..
QF owns half of AP
It WAS a joint lounge Tabua Club / QC

And when it was, then Qantas Club members were admitted. Since then , whatever agreement was in place between the carries with the lounge has ended

Gold & WP ARE allowed entry but not fee paying QC members

And? They have an agreement in place to allow it; perhaps to ensure consistency, they should remove this access

The lounge is not a Qantas Club and I see no reason why access should be expected

Dave

Sorry, struggling with the quote user bit - so used italics!

Actually Dave for an experienced poster you've taken a fair bit out of context. The Emirates analogy makes no sense at all. What I wrote in response to you was:
QF blames AP; AP refers you to QF
That's what's Petty!;)

The whole point of this thread is that there was/is no logical reason that I or many other posters could see for Qantas or Air Pac. to vary the agreement anyway!

Re my comment that you took exception to in the first place:

BTW - does Qantas read this site, in general? Is there any rule that says we can or cannot suggest they read stuff about how petty they are?

Where you have this out of context is that this one word "petty" actually refered to the dozens of things people complain about on this site every week. The point as a moderator, that perhaps you could have answered is .. in writing to Qantas (about anything) is it okay to quote & refer them to this site? or do they read it anyway?-
This question was subsequently answered by Oz Mark. Thank you!:)

There seemed nothing out of context; your post seemed to say to me that you believe that it is petty that lounge access is not provided at Nadi. The analogy between it and Emirates is that neither are Qantas Clubs and so neither would provide access under QC terms

Because Qantas has to pay Air Pacific for each person who uses the lounge perhaps

If you want to point them to the site , you are quite ok to do so; I know that they have read some stuff here ; whether they still do , I don't know

Dave

I think it is very mean spirited of Qantas to change their agreement with Air Pacific so that Qantas Club members are not allowed into a lounge which essentially Qantas put up for Air Pacific (which it 1/2 owns). The decision would be more understandable if say QF had sold its interest in AP to someone else but presently QF owns at least 1/2 of AP and as such the decision to vary to the agreement to exclude Q Club passengers was unwarranted and completely unnecessary.

Anyway, we've all made our point, some agree and some don't.

This is getting a tad boring but what's out of context IS that Emirates is NOT half owned by Qantas and never HAD a share agreement in place.

QF blames AP; AP refers you to QF THAT IS WHAT IS PETTY!!!!!!!!!

Because Qantas has to pay Air Pacific for each person who uses the lounge perhaps - DUH!

Cheers and have a great day!

Thanks MelUser for putting better than i could

I don't think you can spout ownership as a reason why QP members shoud get access.... QF do no majority own AP and I don't see an issue with QF pulling out of the joint running oif the Nadi lounge - especially when they don't even put any of their metal there.

As for QF blaming AP, where was this?

Unfortunately, QF seem to be on the path of enhancing the Qantas Club member benefits.... I wonder if the domestic lounges will drop some of their food/bev options with the new PLAT lounges....?

...and Air Pacific was about to join One World.

  • Qantas Group has a core two brand strategy, (and would want to focus investment capital in that direction)
  • Pacific destinations (beyond NZ & HNL) are surely on the radar for Jetstar and
  • I doubt that the other owners of Air Pacific, would want to see it operated as a Jetstar franchise.
?

As a SG I dont suppose you would see an issue.

Re "blame" From early in this thread:

QF: Phone response:
Air Pacific owns and operates the lounge now, its up to them, who they admit.

Oh Really?

FluidFlyer - I think you are on the money here!
Btw - ownership is roughly QF 46% Fiji Govt. 51% miscell 3%

Sorry Tony, I missed that one! clearly a misinformed REP!

Do Qantas Club members get lounge entry when flying the QF code on Alaska Airlines? That is the only other non OW partner airline that allows some sort of lounge access I think???

If they don't then I see it as a general policy - if they do allow it, then :confused:
