Just received an email informing me that Qantas Club is going up in price:

As a Qantas Club member, we wanted to let you know of an upcoming price increase to Qantas Club memberships. These changes will come into effect from 12.01am (AEST) Thursday 18 April 2024.

There's no change to current memberships.
Your current Qantas Club membership will remain the same. The price increase will only come into effect if you choose to renew your membership after 18 April 2024.

The new Qantas Club membership pricing can be found at qantas.com.

Looks like the current fees are going up by about $60/year.

Good time to lock in membership if you can renew early, that AFF corporate scheme will get you a pretty decent discount.

Big increases across the board.

New Member pricing
  • 1 Year Old $600 - 1 Year New - $699 - Increase of $99 (16.5%)
  • 2 Year Old $1100k - 2 Year New $1299 - Increase of $199 (18.1%)
  • 4 Years Old $2000 - 4 Year New $2399 - Increase of $399 (20%)

Much bigger increases for people living overseas as the non-Australia/New Zealand discount rate has been taken away. Also, the price break for partner memberships is gone in the new pricing.

Does anyone know their rules about letting people renew a few months early? Normally, they only send the renewal notice a few weeks ahead of expiry — but it would be good if it’s possible to renew much earlier to lock in the old rates.

Have I read it correctly that the Partner Membership renewal prices will now be the same as a normal member? If so, why have the Partner Membership?

It does appear that it will let you renew well in advance too - my membership was only renewed two weeks ago and it's still happy to let me renew for a year or more now.

Good to hear. Thanks. I suppose the thing is to try it — I’ve had various errors on the renewal website before and often had to phone an agent.

Just confirming that we checked with Qantas and you can renew your membership in advance at the current rates, before the price increase on 18 April. You can even renew for 4 years at the current rate. Any additional years that you buy now will simply be added onto the end of your existing membership term. :)

Don't forget that AFF Gold and Platinum members can also get 20% off: https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/aff-qantas-club-discount/

If you renew early does the time get added on to your current membership? Mine expires Nov 25 so if I renew for four years will that mean it expires in Nov 29?

Unbelievable, Qantas are already the most expensive airline, and they are hiking up these services which are all zero cost to the airline anyway, and are purely preferences.

Its nothing more than price gouging by Qantas. They certainly can't claim its anything to do with input price increases to them.

How can it be zero cost.

So QF have a magic wand to make booze for you to drink out of water, food falls free out of the sky, staffing and wages never increase, airports don't rip off tenants for lounge lease costs. There has been no inflation at QF even tho inflation has sky rocketed in every other aspect of life

Dreaming.
