Seriously? I have never had a problem with the service on Virgin Blue. It is always light years ahead of QF.

I perhaps had bad luck with Virgin Blue, but their services (ground services) have been very poor on too many occasions for me to get too tempted. Besides, as mentioned before, their flight times do not fit in too well with my schedule anyway. I wish I had more choice (I'd even fly Jetstar if the schedule worked out, but it doesn't).

I've only had one annoying kid experience in QP - Wellington International, basically 2 kids under 5 were running up and down, screaming and playing hide and seek. I was pretty tired and trying to relax and they just didn't stop, so I went over to the parents and asked them nicely if they could keep a closer eye on the little sh%ts (very nicely of course) and they did - and I got several grateful glances from surrounding members.

QP's in Oz, never had a problem, tho weekends are a bit more casual, but then I'm not usually in a hurry and stressed so don't mind the odd ankle biter.

It is sometimes difficult to find an unoccupied computer terminal when there are children around in QPs. They turn the place into an amusement centre, playing games on the internet with speaker volume on high.

What can you do? Put up with it or try to find a quieter area in another part of the QC.

I once got staff at the SYD T3 QP to kick the kids off the computers - every single PC in the business centre had a kid on it playing games, and I desperately needed to go into aa.com to make some bookings. The staff were great, they kicked them ALL out (since none of them were being supervised).

yeah, when the littlies get on the computers and there are none spare it's a bit of a dilemma for me (BNE Intnl QP is good for this).

also, when the little cherubs are sitting behind you and get enjoyment from playing with the tray table or kicking your seat back ... i have found approaching an FA and asking them to ask very nicely is the most respectful approach and works.

just remember, for all our (and WC FIELDS') rantings about kids being out of control, we were all once little cherubs ourselves ... and before any of you say you never behaved in this way, don't kid yourselves ...

To quote the Qantas website:

"Children may be asked to leave if their behaviour is disruptive. We also ask that children do not enter the Business Centre areas or operate any equipment in the lounges or Business Centres."

Seems to me that children should not be in the Business Centres in the first place. May of course be easier to state than police!!!

I don't find it difficult to enforce. When my kids asked me if they could use the Qantas Club PCs I just told them they were not there for kids to play with. They have never asked since (and no, they have not used them without asking either).

Its not always the kids who are annoying.Last tuesday we had transferred from the Narita flight to the domestic SydneyQP to get home to Brisbane.We went to the mobile free phone area for some quiet.After the third suit had come in chatting away loudly on their phone(why do people think they have to talk loudly on a phone),my wife had had enough.No action taken by staff so she got up and moved the no mobile phone sign to right in front of any offender.Worked beautifully.So if any of you had this happen to you you have no right complaining about the kids.

Good on her! I really think people who use mobile phones in the 'no mobile phone' zone is rude.

I saw parents who managed their child very well yesterday. The child was being a bit naughty, but they successfully quietened the child down, and they appeared very conscious of the fact that there are people who are there for a quieter environment. I don't mind children when they are well-behaved or well-managed by their parents, even if they are momentarily noisy.

Brilliant! You wife needs to be congratulated on that move... Very smooth.. I must remember to try that one myself.

Star Alliance lounges has it, I think they should implement it here, save all the hassle's the kids will be happy the parents will be happy and the business ppl will be happy

Simple the cost.
I think it is a great idea and I have seen kids have a wonderful time at the airport playpens. I do hope that all the play makes them tired and quiet on the flight. Of course I have seen stressed parents trying to get the kids out becuase their flight is boarding and the kiddies were to happy playing....
Oh for the parents of the little ones, have you asked the QPDB if they have the activity packs that could keep them occupied for a while:?: I do not know if they have them but it could be a good idea.

My kids are extremely well behaved and seasoned travelers. I let them use the computers if they want, they are Gold FF's and as entitled to use them as any other member as far as I am concerned. A family area with some kid focussed amusements would be a good idea, you might even find some adults in there, beats the business report on the telly. Again, QF is behind the times.

I have never quite got what the pacing up and down bit while talking with on a mobile phone was all about. This morning I saw a guy walking back and forward on the mobile phone, while dragging his luggage behind him. Just sit down and talk. Not that hard.

I actually do it whilst talking on my cordless phone at home - maybe its a subconcious thing about getting the best signal. WE greew up using analogue phones that were about as reliable for calls as a fish pie - and the only way to keep the conversation going was to jig around finding the best signal - maybe its a habit that stuck...

Wouldn't you then stop when you found a spot with a good signal??
