Qantas Codesharing with Jet Airways during their bankrupcy?

SG operates two overnight flights BOM-SIN, SQ 423 and SQ 425, leaving 10:45pm and 11:40pm from BOM. I suggest the easiest option would be to use one of those to connect to your QF flight, with a daytime layover in SIN. You can sleep in a transit hotel in Singapore, which will be a replacement for the hotel night in BOM that you missed - this shouldn't really change your overall time spent in BOM or arrival date back in BNE.

Unfortunately, the nighttime flights dont work as India being India, a lot of my meetings are in the evening time with dinner etc. And who really wants to do back-to-back redeyes in Y? One is bad enough!

Well, there are only four nonstop flights BOM-SIN on any carrier, the three SQ flights being discussed and Air India which is on the same overnight timing as SQ 423.

So you're going to have to re-think your trip somehow. The option proposed to re-route on the QF flight to MEL sounds worthwhile checking - along with the daytime SQ 421 from BOM-SIN, that seems the best to keep your total trip duration to a minimum, despite the add-on MEL-BNE flight. Just make sure you really do have enough time to clear immigration & customs in Singapore (lines have been long recently), then collect your bags to re-check them for the QF flight (which is at a different terminal).

SQ still through checks luggage in separate itineraries, even to QF so no need to clear immigration to collect and recheck bags.

Still can't find any codeshares to BLR (on any operating carrier) marketed by Qantas

They are there, although can be difficult to find. Not sure when you're travelling, but managed to find in May some codeshares (QF8263 on 15/5 and QF2222 on 22/5).

Cathay's awful points/SC earn

I wouldn't worry too much here. The usually awful CX earn isn't quite as bad on these routes. For example in J you get 85 on QF and 80 on KA/CX or Y is 25 v 20. Not quite like SYD>HKG where QF you earn 125 and CX is 60!
