I am flying to AKL (one way, I have an award redemption for the return leg) on or about the 10th August.
I am travelling to visit my mum, she is 83 and has just had a knee replacement op. She will be right to fly come August (probably even earlier) so I am flying over to spend a weekend with her, visit my old school to watch the 1st 15 play, and then bring her back to BNE with me, as a treat for mum, I have secured EK award seats in F.
Getting over there I noticed there is a QF companion sale, BNE - AKL for $499.00 in J.
Problem is, I don't yet have a companion. :-(

It occurs to me, that I might not be the only one with this problem.
So who does one turn to in situations like these? AFF of course.
I also have some Magic vouchers, so looking to see if they would work when booking a companion fare.
Mrs GPH is working on a possible opportunity, but I felt it wouldn't hurt to put out my feelers on AFF to see if there were any others in the same boat.

yes, the plan is to go on the 10th.

Mind you, as the flights to AKL are either very early or very late , I may consider leaving from SYD.
There is a 13.15 flight which means I could do some nice F Lounge time first.

I wouldn't mind you paying for my companion fare either

I am tempted to go, especially if you depart from SYD so I can have the F lounge experience, though I wish it was after October to earn SC for my new membership year. :-| (or I could push to aim for Platinum! Gah, this addiction is dangerous)

I do feel the same way when there's a companion fare. Sadly my circle of non-AFF friends doesn't understand jumping on a plane for 1-2 days, or paying a premium to fly comfortably, or taking the longest route. Hence I generally travel alone, which means I lose some of the joys of travel such as sharing experiences (and splitting costs).

I suppose posting it on AFF is a good start. You never know when someone would be interested! Maybe a new sticky thread can be started for those who are seeking travel companions?

Not a bad idea actually (and this is different to the current 'meet-me-in-the-J-Club' threads).

Text me for these ones. My schedule can be flexible at times. I too have a couple shazam vouchers.
