Qantas Delays/Cancellations

There was allegedly a gunman who fired five shots into the (glass) of CBR airport: he's been arrested, but some planes were apparently held at CBR.

Thankfully, this is an extremely unusual occurrence. Maybe it'll emerge in time the individual had mental health problems.

QF1908 (E190 VH-UYN, an Alliance Airlines aircraft), the 1335 hours CBR - BNE had not taken off by 1429 hours.

UPDATE: The flight still has not become airborne by 1515.

Or an unresolved gripe against a certain airline

How quickly that Sydney 'house eggs toilet paper' incident passed from my feeble memory.

Media states that passenger had not attempted to pass through security, so it was in a public area, apparently near the Qantas check-in counters.

I am not suggesting it'll occur, but it'd be disastrous if occurrences like this lead to bureaucrats (and politicians, given it's Canberra) proposing a ban on any of us entering any airport when we're merely seeing someone off or meeting them, being 'guested' into a lounge or planespotting.

On Sunday 14 August, QF9, the 1515 hours afternoon MEL-PER-LHR is expected to depart at 1830 hours, with QFi suggesting Monday 15 arrival at LHR at 0815 hours, 190 minutes tardy.

FR24 is confused, as on one line it shows this delay with B789 VH-ZNH indicated as the aircraft, but below that indicates that this aircraft arrived in LHR this morning at 0511 hours, six minutes late, as yesterday's QF9 ex MEL. It can't be in two places at once.

QF9 "may" be VH-ZNB that operated an empty flight down to MEL as QF6007, taking off today at 1412 hours after not having been in use since 2139 hours last night when it arrived badly late from DFW as QF8. Today, it pulled into MEL at 1521 hours.

VH-ZNA is also in Melbourne, and ZNI is on QF10, only nine minutes late in predicted at gate arrival at 1849 hours, while ZNF is winging its way across the Pacific on QF94 from LAX. QF95, the once a week 1440 hours MEL-LAX was showing as delayed until 1655 hours in pushback.

In more on Sunday 14 August 2022, QF1 (A388 VH-OQJ), the 1555 hours afternoon SYD-SIN-LHR took off at 1746 so SIN's 'at gate' time ought be around 2333 hours, 78 minutes late, making a punctual arrival at LHR tomorrow most unlikely.

VH-OQD on this morning's QF1 LHR arrival was on blocks at 0709, 34 minutes late (1609 AEST).

B789 VH-ZNB did not form QF9 as I said it might; instead, it took off as QF95 (1440 hours MEL - LAX) at 1754 with suggested same day gate arrival becoming 1431 hours, 151 minutes late.

A332 VH-EBQ was on QF146, the 1610 afternoon AKL - SYD airborne at 1710, arriving at 1833 hours, 43 minutes behind schedule.

QF9 was airborne from MEL at 1918 hours (VH-ZNA) so PER arrival is estimated as 2057 hours, 222 minutes tardy.

QF9 is currently estimated at 2235L departure from Perth. Highly doubt it though.

On Sunday 14 August, QF9 (B789 VH-ZNA) arrived PER at 2102 hours, 227 minutes late and then became airborne at 2255 hours. LHR Monday 15 arrival is suggested as 0833 hours, 213 minutes tardy.

The southbound QF10 is better (ZNH) as its arrival today in PER should be 1210 hours, half an hour late.

A388 VH-OQJ on the 14 August QF1 was in SIN form 2334 hours (79 behind) to takeoff this morning at 0148 hours, suggesting LHR arrival at its gate today of about 0746 hours, 71 minutes late.

VH-OQD on 'the 2' was in the sky last night at LHR at 2224 hours so the SIN stop today should commence from approximately 1821 hours, 56 minutes behind its timetable.

A333 VH-QPJ is on QF148, the Sunday 14 August 1740 hours AKL - SYD delayed overnight to takeoff a couple of minutes ago at 1000 hours NZ time (0800 AEST), so SYD arrival this morning should be 1117 hours, 957 minutes behind schedule. Yesterday this plane arrived AKL at 1713 hours, 53 minutes late on QF145 ex SYD so something must have then gone wrong with either it or crewing. This aircraft appears to be forming QF81 at 1110 hours from SYD to SIN, so that may not be off blocks until at least 1250 at a guess.

QF179 (1030 hours midmorning SYD - NLK) has been cancelled. reasonably strong winds at this difficult airport?

The 0710 hours MEL - AKL, QF151 was predicted to depart at 0800 hours.

A333 VH-QPH is on the 15 August 0950 hours SYD-BKK QF23 that was in the sky at 1104 hours. Predicted at gate arrival has become 1719 hours, 39 minutes behind the timetable.

B738 VH-VZT is operating QF143, the 0930 hours SYD up to AKL that's so often unpuntual. Today's not an exception, with takeoff at 1053 (despite the aircraft having been in SYD as QF44 by 0612 this morning, ex DPS). Arrival looks to be 1527 hours, 52 minutes late.

A332 VH-EBF on the 0710 hours MEL-AKL QF151 arrived at 1418 hours, 93 late.

Larger aircraft B789 VH-ZNK is on QF11 (1015 hours SYD - LAX) that pointed skywards this morning at 1121 hours. A same day 31 minute late arrival at 0731 hours is likely.

In more on Monday 15 August, QF81 (A333 VH-QPF for the second consecutive day, the 1110 hours SYD-SIN) was in the sky at 1236. Expected arrival is 44 minutes late at 1834 hours, but in theory this shouldn't delay QF82.

As noted above, VH-QPJ was on the overnight delayed QF148 that arrived SYD (ex AKL) at 1111 hours, 917 minutes late. It became QF19 (1230 hours lunchtime SYD - MNL) that did not point skywards until 1550 hours, so MNL arrival at gate will be at about 2139 hours, 169 minutes late. The 2035 hours QF20 back down to SYD is unlikely to depart prior to 2300 hours.

A332 VH-EBA had overnighted in Sydney but the 1350 hours SYD up to CGK, QF41, did not take off until 1554 so predicted at gate arrival has become 2005 hours, 80 late. This will delay redeye QF42 back down to old Sydney town.

I haven't read about this, but QF69 (previously 0815 hours MEL-ADL-DEL) has become an 0940 hours nonstop. On Monday 15 August, it did not take off until 1222 hours with A332 VH-EBP, arriving at 2006 hours, 126 minutes late. QF70 then was airborne at 2248, 163 minutes after its scheduled 2005 hours pushback, so on Tuesday 16, MEL arrival should be at 1510 mid afternoon, 135 minutes tardy.

A332 VH-QPH arrived BKK yesterday (ex SYD) as QF23 at 1711 hours, 31 late, but the return redeye QF24 (the 1810 hours) was not in the sky until 2050 so this morning, an 0848 hours arrival is on the cards, 138 minutes behind the timetable.

QPJ was as noted above very late away on QF19 from SYD to MNL yesterday, arriving at 2120 hours, 150 minutes tardy. QF20 then took off at 2324, 169 minutes past its scheduled 2035 hours mid evening departure, so on Tuesday 16, gate arrival should be 0907 hours, 157 minutes behind what the timetable says.

Class leader A332 VH-EBA on Monday 15's QF41 (1350 hours SYD - CGK) arrived at its gate at 1954 hours, 69 late, so the return overnight flight QF42 came back in to its Sydney airport gate at 0707 hours this morning, 62 behind.

B789 VH-ZNE on 'the 63' yesterday took off from SYD at 1108, arriving JNB at 1704 hours, 84 minutes behind the timetable. QF64 returning, the 1740 hours, was airborne 122 minutes later at 1842 so the Sydney arrival on Tuesday 16 afternoon looks to be at 1459, 94 minutes tardy. In turn, this will delay QF7, the 1540 hours SYD long flight up to DFW to an estimated 1640, which may be a little optimistic.

QF7 (see above) on Tuesday 16 August managed to take off at 1653, quite a good effort: arrival same day in DFW should be at 1701 hours, 61 minutes past the timetable.

B789 VH-ZNB on Tuesday 16 August's QF9 was airborne from PER at 1938 hours so Thursday 17 LHR arrival should be 35 minutes behind schedule at 0540.

Continuing with Wednesday 17 August, the recently instituted QF58 (1325 hours POM down to BNE, B738 VH-XZK) took off at 1508 so at gate arrival is estimated as 1805 hours, 95 minutes tardy.

A333 VH-EBE on QF71, the 1150 hours PER up to SIN was airborne at 1233 hours local time so arrival at gate at 1753 will be 33 behind.

A332 VH-EBS is on QF35, the 1205 hours lunchtime MEL up to SIN that was not pointing skywards until 1457 hours. Delayed arrival of 138 minutes (2033 hours) is likely. This will delay one flight from SIN back down to Oz. Sometimes these aircraft swap in SIN.

Also on 17 August 2022, QF63 took off at 1017 hours from SYD with B789 VH-ZNG, so mooted arrival is 1616 hours, 36 minutes late.

QF103 (1925 hours early evening SYD - HNL operated by an A333) is showing as departing at 2010, nine minutes ago, but I can't see it on FR24. It will be more than half an hour late arriving.

QF10 from LHR should arrive PER on Thursday 18 August 2022 at 1221 hours, 41 minutes late with B789 VH-ZNB.

QF35 on Wednesday 17 August 2022, the 1205 hours MEL - SIN was not airborne until 1457, arriving at 2027 hours, 132 minute slate. A332 VH-EBS looks to still be in SIN, but given that QF51/52 BNE-SIN-BNE and QF35/36 MEL-SIN-MEL still are not daily, perhaps this is meant to occur.

The 0940 hours MEL-DEL (no longer stops in ADL on the way out) QF69 is unusually delayed to 1740 late this afternoon, with DEL arrival suggested as 0200 on Friday 19 instead of 1800 tonight, so 640 minutes tardy. The 2005 hours DEL-MEL QF70 is predicted to push back at the repulsive time of 0320 hours for arrival around 2010 on Friday mid evening, 435 minutes behind schedule.

QF103 on Thursday 17 from SYD up to HNL arrived at 0955 hours, 45 late with A333 VH-QPF on the returning QF104 taking off at 1153. SYD arrival this early evening (Thursday 18) should be at 1807 hours, 42 minutes tardy.

Thursday 18 August's QF1 (1555 hours ex SYD) was showing as altered to depart at 1812. A388 VH-OQB has been in Sydney all day, so not sure why the delay.

The badly delayed QF69 from MEL to DEL has A332 VH-EBR. It took off at 1822 with suggested at gate arrival on Friday 19 becoming 0208 hours, 488 minutes late. That forecast 0320 hours local time DEL departure for QF70 looks like being at least half an hour later. This A332 had to work down from BNE, taking off at 1410 hours as empty ('ferry') flight QF6004 and arriving MEL at 1629, so a quick turnaround in Melbourne. Prior to this, it had been in LAX!

While yesterday's QF63 (VH-ZNA) arrived in Jo'burg just 12 minutes behind schedule, the return QF64 departure has been delayed until noon (local) - with new arrival in Sydney of 07:45 Saturday [18 hrs 20 min late].
