Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Saturday : Friday's QF28 SCT-SYD (B789 VH-ZNH) was 45 minutes late departing Santiago, and with a westwards flight, is not expected in Sydney until 15:51 AEDT this afternoon, a 61 minute delay.

QF7 (B789 VH-ZNA) was diverted to Austin at 16:45 CDT Friday 45 minutes after it was due in Dallas. It landed in Austin at 17:26 CDT, and just over an hour later at 18:32 CDT, took off for Dallas, arriving at 19:25 CDT, 3 hours 25 minutes late.

While that delay ate into the 6 hour 50 minute normal on ground time at Dallas, Qantas flight status shows only a 45 minute delay for the departure of the return QF8 at 23:10 CDT Friday, and no onward delay (as yet) for today's QF8 [CDT].
Impressive recovery given length of flight etc to still be able to operate the Austin-Dallas leg. Duty time must have been looonnngggg for the operating crew.

Sunday : Saturday's QF8 pushed back just 20 minutes late at 22:45 CDT, and was in the air at 23:01 CDT - last Dallas departure for this US DST season. The flight is still on the ground according to Qantas Flight Status, so no update on Sydney arrival time, although the flight tracker sites anticipate an on time arrival.

Monday : Sunday's QF28 SCL-SYD (B789 VH-ZNC) was 72 minutes late departing Santiago at 14:52 CLST. With it's westwards great circle flight dipping down into the jet-stream, it is estimated to arrive in Sydney at 19:20 this evening, 90 minutes late.

The probable flow-on flight, QF75 SYD-YVR is showing a 30 minute delay for a 20:55 AEDT Sydney departure this evening, and an estimated arrival in Vancouver at 15:50 PST Monday, a 25 minute delay.

Monday : Saturday's QF12 LAX-SYD (A388 VH-OQB) was 65 minutes late departing Los Angeles at 00:08 PDT Sunday, and subsequently diverted to Brisbane, where it landed at 08:00 AEST this morning.
The onward flight to Sydney departed just 56 minutes later at 08:56 AEST, and landed at Sydney at 11:34 AEDT, 1 minute shy of 3 hours late.

The probable flow-on flight, QF75 SYD-YVR is showing a 30 minute delay for a 20:55 AEDT Sydney departure this evening, and an estimated arrival in Vancouver at 15:50 PST Monday, a 25 minute delay.
This Monday flight was operated by B789 VH-ZNC, with actual departure delay of 54 minutes , and arrival delay of 42 minutes.

Tuesday : Today's QF27 SYD-SCL (B789 VH-ZNB) was 44 minutes late pushing back from the gate in Sydney at 13:09 AEDT, with take off at 13:37 AEDT. With the eastwards route, the expected arrival in Santiago is shown as 25 minutes late at 11:20 CLST

The Saturday QF64 JNB-SYD flight (B789 VH-ZNB) appeared on Qantas Flight Status to have departed at 17:05 SAST and to be in flight. FlightRadar24 had same departure time but no flight-path. Similarly on FlightAware, however it was also showing a 2 hour delay in Sydney arrival Sunday afternoon.
After running the flight track on FlightRadar24, it showed that the aircraft left the gate at the indicated time, however on reaching the head of the runway at 17:18 SAST, returned to a different gate at the terminal by 17:40 SAST. ?Medical Emergency?
It was some time after 3 am AEST (18:00 SAST) before Qantas Flight status was amended from "in- flight" to delayed until 18:50 SAST, with a revised arrival in Sydney of 15:15 AEST.

QF161 one hour late due to late arrival of aircraft and bad weather around SYD airport.

The QF CHC service from this morning is also delayed to 1430.

QF45 MEL-Dps departured 50 minutes late, will arrive in DPS almost 2hrs later at 23:44 local time.
Flight was diverted to DRW, maybe somebody here knows why.
This also means QF44 DPS-SYD is now scheduled 4hrs later departing 01:45 local time

QF11 already announced a departure delay to 1335 from 1120. Will see how late we actually depart.

Edit: now 1355 at 1247J

Can someone tell me how the A 330 flights work between Brisbane and Lax please ? As in, does the QF 55 that arrives at 530 pm turn around and fly back 3 hrs later as QF16? I only ask in this thread as imagine if same plane was used there is chance for many delays

Monday : Sunday's QF28 SCL-SYD (B789 VH-ZNC) was again late departing Santiago (42 minutes), and was further delayed during the westwards flight landing in Sydney at 16:16 AEDT this afternoon, 86 minutes late. Consequently QF75 (SYD-YVR) departed Sydney 85 minutes late at 18:50 AEDT, with a revised arrival in Vancouver at 08:23 PDT (58 minutes late). That delay can be absorbed within the layover at Vancouver, so no ongoing delay is foreseen for the return QF76.

Wednesday : QF63 SYD-JNB (B789 VH-ZND) was 72 minutes late departing Sydney this morning at 10:47 AEDT, and caught up some time to be 55 minutes late into Jo'burg at 15:30 SAST.
Consequently the return QF64 JNB-SYD was 61 minutes late departing Jo'burg at 17:36 SAST - it is showing as arriving in Sydney at 15:13 AEDT on Thursday, loosing time to be 1hr 48 minutes late.

Friday : it seems the Wednesday evening Los Angeles departure of QF12 LAX-SYD (B789 VH-ZNG) was cancelled, with passengers either being transferred to the Thursday morning QF18 (B789 VH-ZNB) with a 10 hour delay, or the Thursday evening A338 operated QF12 with at least a 24 hour delay.

QF93 MEL-LAX was shown with a posted 20 minute delay leaving Sydney - B789 VH-ZNF has just pushed back at 11:37 AEDT, 37 minutes late, and is about to take off. With an eastwards route, Qantas flight status is still showing an on time arrival in Los Angeles at 06:20 PST.

Affirmative - for example QF55 (VH-EBO) on Wednesday was 51 minutes late arriving in LA, but left on time as QF16 that same evening.

Sunday : With B789 VH-ZNG still 'stuck' in Los Angeles, today's QF11 SYD-LAX has been cancelled. No easy options for booked passengers - either a 24 hour delay for tomorrow morning's A388 flight, or 35 hours until the evening B789 QF17 flight.

I doubt there are many empty seats to be rebooked onto for either of those.
