Qantas Delays/Cancellations

tomlee1986, you ought buy a ticket in the Saturday lotto as your comment about the QFi A333s still having many problems was 110 per cent accurate, sadly for passengers.

Also on Thursday 9 January, A333 VH-QPF is on QF37, the 1655 hours MEL-SIN in the sky at 1928 in the early evening. Gate arrival should be 2345 hours, 100 minutes late. QF38 back down to MEL (the 2340 hours from SIN) is optimistically expected to depart at 0045 hours on Friday 10.

Sister QPB is operating QF79, the 0925 hours midmorning MEL-NRT airborne at 1224 hours. Arrival is expected shortly at 1957 hours, 122 minutes behind its timetable. QF80 tonight back down to Melbourne is expected to depart Japan's Narita at 2125 hours, 125 minutes late.

It's probable that some A333 international flights will be delayed ex MEL tomorrow (Friday 10).

Class leader A388 VH_OQA is estimated to arrive as QF12 ex LAX in SYD at 0905 hours on Friday morning, 100 late.
I will assume the 29 to HKG WILL be impacted again and I can almost confirm today's flight will be using QPF from the Singapore flight at gate 11 based on the info from Melbourne Airport app - the Tokyo flight will take off at 1110 at the same gate on the QPB.

The 128 on QPG from HKG SYD took off 2109 instead of 1925, arriving at 0856 - 85 min late from 0730

The VERY LATE 30 to MEL from HKG - finally took off at 0024 - 5 hr delay and will now arrive at 1212 - 4.5 hrs behind 0745 scheduled arrival!!! It’s crazy!!!!!

As a result of what @tomlee1986 highlighted, on Friday 10 January, QF29, the 1105 hours late morning MEL-HKG is suggested as departing at 1255 hours.

QF79, the 0925 hours MEL-NRT is forecast to depart at 1120 hours but this is unlikely, as operating aircraft A333 VH-QPB only arrived at 0957 hours in MEL, 132 minutes late as QF80 from NRT.

VH-QPF (also an A333) is on QF38 from SIN down to MEL that should arrive at its gate at 1130 hours, 80 minutes late.

VH-QPC arrived SYD at 0815 hours this morning as QF20 from MNL, 105 minutes late, and is next on QF67 to BLR that has changed to depart at 1030, an hour late (at least).

On Thursday 9 January, A388 VH-OQG arrived from JNB as QF64 at 1919 hours in the early evening, 304 minutes late than timetabled gate arrival of 1415 hours.

It formed QF11 from SYD to LAX, the 1725 hours up up and away at 2215. 9 January LAX arrival should be 1620 hours mid afternoon, 245 minutes behind the schedule.

A333 VH-QPD arrived in ICN as QF87 from SYD a minute early at 2024 hours, but the returning overnight QF88 has been delayed, taking off from Seoul at 2350 hours local time. Friday 10 SYD gate arrival should be 1217 hours, 97 minutes behind schedule.

QF127 (1115 hours SYD-HKG today) is expected to depart at 1200 'high noon with A333 VH-QPG as this plane arrived SYD this morning at 0907 hours, 97 late as QF128 from HKG.

QF's A333 fleet looks to be increasingly unreliable. These aircraft are arguably being asked to do too much,.

As I said - the reliability issue of QFi A330 fleet - it’s getting beyond a joke!!! Let’s see how crazy it gets this Easter!!!

As predicted in #16,562 above, QF79, the 0925 hours MEL-NRT (A333 VH-QPB) was later than predicted, taking off at 1215 hours so estimated gate arrival becomes 1957 hours, 122 minutes late.

QF63, the 0930 hours SYD across to JNB (A388 VH-OQA) is again badly late, as it wasn't pointing skywards until 1214 hours. Gate arrival is forecast as 1701 hours, 136 minutes tardy. Since it became an A380, this previously fairly punctual flight has had a bad trot with many flights 30 minutes late or way beyond that, as is the case today. OQA was 116 minutes late on QF12 from LAX, arriving SYD this morning at 0921 hours.

A333 VH-QPG is on QF127, the scheduled 1115 hours SYD-HKG airborne at 1331 this afternoon with arrival said to be 1934 hours, 104 minutes behind the timetable. Earlier, it had been predicted to depart at 1200 'high noon'. These forecasts are often over optimistic.

In more on 10 January 2025, B789 VH-ZNA on QF27, the 1220 hours SYD-SCL was airborne at 1335 with projected gate arrival becoming 1143 hours, 58 minutes late. Given there's a genrous turnaround time allocated in the timetable, in theory it should be punctual for the run back across to SYD as 'the 28.'

A333 VH-QPD on QF59, the 1200 'high noon' SYD-HND keeps having its estimated pushback time put back: it's become 1440.

The 29 MEL to HKG took off at 1341, ETA is 1924 on QPF- this means the return is definitely severely delayed again for both 30 to MEL & 128 to SYD based on earlier reports from @Melburnian1

Saw A388 VH-OQD depart MEL an hour ago… looks like it’s about to land in SYD and operate QF1 scheduled for 15:55 which seems quite ambitious (given it’s 16:00 at the time of posting)

Large A220 Problems!
X4C is stuck in HBA, meaning QF1500 to SYD and the following QF1267 to LST, QF1514 to MEL, QF1517 to LST and the following mornings QF1512 back to MEL are now all cancelled as a result

A388 VH-OQD on 10 January arrived in MEL 0742 hours, seven minutes late as QF94 from sadly fire-hit LAX.

It has then operated empty ('been ferried') from MEL to SYD, a move scheduled for a 1330 hours departure and very optimistic (impossible) arrival at 1430, but it ended up taking off at 1452 hours, and is about to arrive at its gate at about 1604.

It is to operate QF1, the scheduled 1555 hours SYD-SIN-LHR forecast to push back at 1800 in the very early evening.

I'll be surprised if it gets away bang on 1800 hours, going by QFi's normal slow turnarounds for these big birds.

Apologies, @marcojim , for partly duplicating your post but I was writing about this before I'd seen your correct prose.

looks like QFi fleet is in major disarray - the A330 fleet is shocking, 787 and A380 fleet not too much better!

I wonder what the tipping point would be where they do a hard reset. Cancel flights, put everyone on other carriers and just planes and crews in position and start again.
The A330 fleet is the starting point already where their performance last few days - unspeakable horrors!

@Melburnian1 the QF 59 that you mentioned is finally pushed back and heading towards the runway at 1615- hoping no more problems and that QPD is finally taking off! Also the QF HKG returns - optimistic guess by QF is delayed by 1 hour to approx 2045 departure for both 128 to SYD and 30 to MEL (my assumption is completely unrealistic and IMPOSSIBLE!)

A388 VH-OQD proved my prediction wrong (see post #16,573) as on the 1555 hours SYD-SIN-LHR it departed at 1756 and.took off from SYD at 1813 hours on 10 January. SIN arrival is suggested as 2233 hours, 88 late.

QF12 (LAX to SYD) had A388 VH-OQH. On 11 January, SYD arrival should be about 0822 hours, 57 behind.
