Qantas Delays/Cancellations

This aircraft VH-QPG (A333) had suffered multiple extreme delays from HKG last few days until 13/01 but this is happening again!! 😢

@Melburnian1 this looks like the fleet needs urgent overhaul!!

On Wednesday 15 January 2025, A333 VH-QPJ on QF59 (1200 'high noon' SYD-HND) took off at 1613 hours so gate arrival should be 2333 hours, 213 minutes behind schedule. This is because the plane arrived today at 1206 hours (86 late) as QF88 from ICN.

The 2200 hours (tonight) QF60 (HND-SYD) is optimistically showing as departing Japan at 0025 hours local time on Thursday 16.

A333 VH-QPG on Wednesday 15 is operating empty ('ferry') flight QF6013, a 1715 hours ex BNE airborne at 1758 hours.

Due to the Sydney/NSW storms, it's had a most unusual flight pattern, flying over the Pacific from south of Seal Rocks, resuming flying over land at Nowra and then being in a holding pattern near Goulburn. Gate arrival looks to be about 2134, two hours late.

Hey, I'm supposed to be on the QF11 this afternoon. Trying to track the inbound QF64, but appears to have not left SA. Flight tracker etc haven't been updated for more than an hour. Wondered if there was any info somewhere as to what is happening? Presumably Elon's debris again.

It’s enroute. Took off 3 hours ago, albeit close to 2 hours late.

That aircraft has issues. I was on the same airframe last week and it took off 3 hours late. It had to taxi back to the gate for repairs.

Good news is it’s picked up some time and will only be 30 minutes late..

Meanwhile yesterday’s QF1 ex SIN has been further delayed until 12:30 local. Arrives LHR 19:40 so will be late departing

Yesterdays QF1 is now 0630 tomorrow according to reports from pax in another thread

A333 VH-QPJ on QF87, the Thursday 16 January 1130 hours late morning SUD-ICN has been delayed to an estimated 1420 in pushback. The A333 only arrived SYD at 1303 hours, 128 minutes late as QF60 from Japan's HND. '1420' seems optimistic as it'd mean a 77 minute turnaround.

QF19, the 1205 hours SYD-MNL had yet to take off by 1310. A333 VH_QPH arrived in Sydney from BLR this afternoon at 1216 hours, 91 late.

Sister QPE arrived ex HKG (Q30) in MEL at 1013 this morning, 148 minutes late and has been requisitioned to operate the QF59 (scheduled 0925 hours MEL-NRT in Japan). The latter is forecast to shortly depart at 1340 hours, 255 minutes late.

Yep…. 0635 Friday… but Thursday’s QF2 is still showing ex LHR. So unless they’ve magically found another A380 I’m not sure how it’ll operate.

OQH operated QF1 ex Syd yesterday and is now continuing to LHR at 0635 tomorrow

It won't be departing on Thursday evening, that's for sure.

What I suspect will end up happening is that Thursday night's QF1 (16 January) will probably turn around when it arrives in LHR on Friday morning to operate Thursday night's QF2 with a half-day delay getting back into SYD on Saturday evening.

In turn, the very much delayed Wednesday night QF1 (15 January) will remain in LHR to operate Friday night's QF2.

Of course, this is assuming Thursday's QF1 runs on schedule...

I always never assume anything when it comes to Qantas..

I was last year left to fix my own accommodation when the QF1 was delayed 16 hours. I was flying in J.

But you’d think by now they would know you can’t guarantee flights when they are running threadbare on all fleets apart from 737s.

There’s still 3xA380s sitting Abu Dhabi…. and maybe the decision to scrap two others was slightly premature considering flying worldwide is above pre pandemic levels.

There are only two A380s @ AUH

Another long delay to add at the A330 fleet, QF 71 Scheduled 12:30 now expected 21:30.
This has resulted in QF82 from SIN-SYD being delayed to an ungodly 04.20 tomorrow morning, barring any further delays to QF71 tonight.

Gosh… what an absolute mess!
