Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Currently in Cairns airport after landed from SIN (SQ 203). Talking to one of the QF19 passenger, she said the pilot mentioned something about smoke smell in the plane so they had to divert to Cairns.

And... on today's QF19 (SYD-MNL), VH-EBS appears to have aborted take off and returned to the gate, with a re-scheduled departure now of 16.30.

This will affect tonight's QF20 from MNL to SYD, which will now depart at 22.45 if all goes well with whatever the issue is with EBS.

Sounds like this A330 fleet is being used extensively to the point of collapse if not managed carefully

@Melburnian1 Maybe a full overhaul of A330 fleet (both A332 & 333) are urgently needed?!
We all know the whole fleet is stretched thin. It's nothing new. They can't exactly send planes into the shop during peak period. We'll see schedule decreases once we move past thr summer. If anything they're down 1 a380 than they would've liked with how long OQC is taking to come back into service (unlikely until 2026 now). Then we see some of the issues with the 787s. Everything is just dominos during the peak period when things go awry.

The 330 fleet is already scheduled for maintenance and refurbishment (a portion of them) this year.

Edit: also we have no idea what material impact the engineer strikes have had on QF. They say not much. But a few less maintenance hours here and there can see the small things pile up eventually resulting in a thing they can't actually take off with broken.
