Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF1 today is delayed out of SYD by 3 hours.
Saw a post that today's (Thursday's) QF12 out of LAX is delayed almost 23 hours, so the scheduled Saturday morning arrival is now going to be on Sunday morning. Not sure how that affects the following A380 flight on Saturday.
I'm on Friday's QF1 SYD-LHR, so hopefully all stays (reasonably) on time.
Does the incoming QF2 become QF1 ex-SYD?
Tomorrow's QF11 has been cancelled. Flying it on Monday - wish me luck.

On Monday 3 February 2025, QF68 (A333 VH_QPH) arrived in SYD (ex BLR in India) at 1234 hours, 109 minutes late, as QF67 had been delayed. It formed QF19 from SYD to MNL, the 1205 hours airborne at 1634, arriving in the Philippine capital at 2125 hours, 235 minutes late.

QF20 took off at 2351 hours from MNL and should arrive SYD on Tuesday 4 at 1032 hours, 242 minutes behind the timetable.

A332 VH-EBQ arrived MEL at 1004 hours on 4 February, 139 late as QF30 from HKG.

QF59, the 1200 'high noon' SYD-HN is expected to depart 35 minutes late.

A333 VH-QPD is operating QF38 overnight from SIN that should shortly arrive MEL at 1021 hours, 11 minutes late to form QF29, the 1105 hours MEL-HKG that is showing as a presumed 1140 hours pushback. This is somewhat optimistic.

The SYD-MNL and MEL/SYD-HKG routes have had much unpunctuality lately.

They’re lucky with the 11s at the moment as the loads are light. Monday’s has just 107 down the back with PE and J half full.

It is February, normally (with the exception of Chinese New Year) a low demand month for international travel in and out of Australia, but while there's a lag (most travellers unless going for a funeral or to be with relatives who are expected to pass away) do not book super close to day of travel, I wonder is the low A$ versus the US$ causing far fewer Australians to visit the "expensive" United States?

If this is occurring and hasn't been matched by a commensurate rise in the number of Americans visiting Oz, then all carriers on the routes (QFi, AA, DL, HA and UA) will be suffering low loadings, as will Air NZ given it offers connecting flights through Aukland.

Hopefully the maintenance team can use this time to check the A330 fleet for issues to ensure less of these problems that plagued them this past Australian summer!

QF25 SYD-HND failed to meet curfew (even with an hour dispensation last night) after an hydraulic issue. Pax offloaded after midnight and flight now showing as a 1500 departure today.

Return QF25 showing as 16hr delayed with a post midnight departure.

On Thursday 6 February 2025, QF63, the 0930 hours SYD-JNB with A388 class leader VH-OQA is expected to depart 140 minutes late at 1150 hours.

QF87, the 1130 hours SYD-ICN is proposed to push back an hour late.

The A333 on QF127 (1115 hours late morning SYD-HKG) is forecast to be 45 minutes late departing.

That QF127 is on QPD - arrived on time this morning as 128 from HKG, then delayed to 1308 depart and now ETA 1857!!!

. One way this is dealt with is identifying the flight number with date of departure, departure port ( for that leg in multi leg flights like QF1 & 2 land maybe arrival port. I'm sure there are other methods.
I've never seen that for QF flights. Usually if significantly delayed , eg till the next day , the flight number might adds D - QF1D. This may also occur if 2 QF1 departs Sydney around similar times and therefore could be sharing the same airspace - a delayed QF1D and scheduled but not delayed QF1.

@aplmac. There can be more than one flight in the air with the same flight number - but the don't share the same airspace . QF1 landing in LHR is not sharing the same airspace as QF1 departing SYD

Yes fair call. I was referring to mainly internal or industry comms not to travellers.

When messages are sent, in my experience containing passenger information, the flight information can be shown as per below ( using EDIFACT). Not just QF, but an IATA thing.

QF001 SYDSIN 07FEB 1510 2000
QF001 SINLHR 07FEB 2300 0500+1

The +1 indicates next day arrival. The date/time is the scheduled date and doesn't change in event of delay..

If the flight is cancelled and replace with an IRROPS number ( eg QF8xx_), then those details are populated.

On Friday 7 February 2025, QF1, the 1555 hours SYD-SIN-LHR took off at 1831 hours with A388 VH-OQH. SIN arrival is forecast as 116 minutes late at 2301 hours.

The delay-prone Sydney-Manila flight, QF19, has A333 VH-QPC with this 1205 hours scheduled becoming airborne at 1649 hours. Gate arrival should be about 2127 hours local time, 237 late. The aircraft had earlier arrived in Sydney at 1430 hours, 230 late as QF88 from ICN, 'the 87' from SYD to ICN being badly late yesterday.

A333 VH-QPE is on QF59 from SYD to HND that should arrive at approximately 2040 hours, 40 late.

Class leader A388 VH-OQA is on QF11, the 1725 hours late afternoon SYD to LAX in the sky at 1920 hours. Same day arrival is estimated as 1320 hours, 70 behind.
