Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

First fail for MEL this morning on QF400. MEL has been 100% for me until this flight.

Cleaners were still on the plane cleaning the front half of the plane so the manager decided to call rows 15-30 first for boarding via the rear stairs.

But then all passengers boarded, including premium at the same time - all via the rear and then 3 mins later via the front as well. The scanning team got confused.

You can imagine what happened next :) A bit of a cluster on the plane as people tried to pass mid cabin.

Email fired off to customer care already don’t worry :)

Sometimes it an an exclusive bus for J, other times shared. I am about 50/50 so far.

Was travelling CX through HKG a few years back when a number of aerobridges were U/S. We were all bundled onto buses, no separate bus for J. Sent feedback, reply received was along the lines of why should Business Class get a separate bus.

I flew BA LHR to AUH In J a few years ago. We parked at a stand off gate.

F were picked up in sedans, J were picked up in a very swanky executive bus with plush seating, Y had regular busses.

I thought that was odd, if that was QF in AU everyone would be on the same bus.

F class may have been part of the Abu Dhabi royal family so possibly not a class thing. They were all Emirati.

I'd have thought the royals in that part of the world get F class aircraft, but just cabins...

Unlike the UK, they count the extended family as part of the royal family. I think Dubai has about 200 or so. Not sure about Abu Dhabi.

I didn't mean to imply the Emir or his immediate family would be on the aircraft (pretty sure they'd be flying Etihad, not BA) - but just people high up off to Harrods for a quick shopping trip.

Oh I agree, sorry didn't mean to argue against.

I'd say the treatment of premium passengers is more about the culture in that region than the airline. And so the culture is then extended to all Airlines using the airport.

Weekend travels MEL-BNE r/t. Both ends worked properly - Y queue roped off, PB boarded via both lanes. very quick. Good stuff

Conflicting info from me on Sunday in MEL, no priority boarding, both lanes let through at the same time.

Consistently Inconsistent(tm)

though would say they seem to be getting much much better overall.

Please please take the time to fire off a 2 min email with all the specifics to QF feedback - use the form online. They are tracking it. See my following post.

Hi all, just took a call from QF Premium.

They were ringing to say thank you for all the feedback (positive and constructive) on all of my (applicable to the trial) flights as I take them.

Because I am giving them specifics - date, flight number, even peoples names involved and I’m sending them so promptly (as in I’m typing it on the flight using the wifi!) they are sending it straight to the airport ground management for feedback.

They sound very genuine about making this work and are looking for feedback.

There is a specific drop down box you select on the form ‘Boarding’ that they are tracking very close at the moment. I know I’m high status with QF but they assured me everything from everyone coded under ’Boarding‘ at the moment is being looked at very closely.

So again take the 2 mins it takes to fire off the specifics to help them nail it. To pre-empt the whiners - no we shouldn’t be having to do this, but the world is not perfect ok :)

Had my first flight today since the boarding process changed. Premium boarding was lovely for CBR - MEL. I thanked the CSM for how pleasant it was. Didn’t notice anyone trying to sneak on early.

ADL QF PB worked well this morning, however ADL airport authorities decided to move priority security screening to the furthest left instead of the furthest right row. So right now, you have the normal and priority entrance next to each other and needless to say, it’s confusing and people just get to any entrance that they fancy. ADL airport authorities - please visit other airports and learn about efficient queue management! Why you feel the need to further complicate the already diabolical security screening is completely beyond me! 🤦🏻‍♀️

QF449 PB worked well with the ground crew inspecting BP near where the Black PB stand is located and sending non PB pax away. I will mention this on the “How was Qantas” survey.

QF738 ADL-SYD this morning - no PB - not even lines, people just converging.
QF1566 SYD-OOL today plane was delayed. Qantas ground crew member came through and told people only PB was to be in the PB lane. People moved out of the PB lane with no problems.

It was pretty funny to watch boarding in BNE on the weekend. People were crowding around the gate before boarding was called, as is often the case. But then, the agents opened the gate and people started flooding through from everywhere, about 15 seconds before an announcement was made for Priority Boarding 🤣 By then I'm sure there was no turning back. Everyone started pouring through both lanes and after less than a minute probably, the announcement came for general boarding. We stood back and watched in amusement before heading to a rare business class seat trip!

How is this PB supposed to work after the general boarding has been called? Yesterday morning I came to the queue couple of minutes after boarding had commenced for BNE-SYD (QF509) and they were boarding both lines. I was probably #20 in the PB queue when joining it.

One would selfishly think that if the PB line has an actual queue, they'd process them first and then continue again with the general boarding. Or would that be too simple and logical? 🤓
