Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

I hope you pass feedback on to QF about the MEL 'experience'.

I'm waiting for my "Please provide feedback on your QF experience emails" ... anyone remember those? Always used to mention (lack of) PB then - with the same result as everyone else. I won't be holding my breath ...

Regards,

BD

I have 8 flights over the next 5 days will see how each port goes with PB but so far I have found Sydney Melbourne and Brisbane have been pretty good all things considered. However Adelaide has been horrid no attempt in any way shape of form to perform or enforce PB, Darwin is hit and miss they make the announcements but there is no PB line all in the same que. ASP again has been sometimes works sometimes doesn't

My Next flights cover MEL, SYD, ASP DRW and BNE.

Qantas Consistently Inconsistent :)

They aren’t stuffing up, they just don’t care.
They know they have the market share and that many are rusted on and won’t leave no matter what. What incentive does QF have to enforce PB?
Its pretty much been like this for...well I can't even remember a period over the past couple of decades when PB worked regularly well for QF.

Back in the early-mid noughties I can't recall if they even had PB. That was before travel in Australia became Americanised (i.e. overhead locker space was not at a premium), and priority boarding meant the announcements in the lounge were timed such that lounge qualifying pax reached the gate just as the last few regular economy pax were left in the airbridge. Aaah, the gold old days.

Actually it worked when everyone started doing it last time because the airport managers got onto it (if you can be bothered trawling back through the thread it’s all there!).

There was even a template email we all used. It got results especially when people with status gave feedback. Of course we had a lot more people travelling then - I still suspect a lot of AFF members aren’t flying at the moment.

Alternatively people can not shoot a quick email off, take longer to type out a post and complain on here which will achieve precisely nothing :)

OK, OK, pipe down in row 25 ... ;)

I've submitted a feedback form and requested a reply ... let's see what they say (if anything).

Good on you :)

Honestly its not so much the actual response, its the internal follow up that happens and if they keep getting feedback, the managers do something about it.

Nice work. WIll go back to my seat in row 1 not 25 ;)

Strange non experience at MEL. Flight was a little late so a lot of people pooling around the gate. The Priority line was full and NOBODY was in the regular line.. the PB line snaked out into the main terminal area almost into the gate opposite (!). These were not all priority pax. And wouldn't you know when bording was called the Y pax melted into their line (or at least the PB split and everyone boarded fairly quickly...but it was in parallel with both scanners going - made sense given the flight was a bit late so they just wanted to get everyone on.

In this sort of situation, for QF, I would just queue up in the regular line, knowing they don't give a stuff. I often do that when it's a flight full of Platinums and Golds because it's way faster.
Agree. Was just considering doing exactly that when the flight was called and the crowd went wild

LOL, can't say I ever aim for Row 1 - for a start the overhead there is slightly smaller so my max size cabin bag doesn't fit ... much prefer row 2 - but we digress!

I love your eternal optimism however I have to disagree. non-PB is a perennial issue for QF and one which has been complained about for years - my memory isn't what it was but I'm sure even Red Roo couldn't get it sorted. Toward the end of 2019 there was definitely a push to try to be better at enforcing and QF did go as far on *some* departures to have someone actually pre-scan the PB queue but this was not consistently performed and even when it was, usually done up until about 5 mins before boarding commenced so non-status/J passengers could join at the end and ... as usual ... would not be turfed at the scanner.

I can understand why but QF seemed to have done a pretty savage cost cutting exercise over recent months. No enforcement of priority security lines (that I've seen), limited hours use of the Premium Security facility at BNE, continued restrictions on the Lounge offerings (and having to be served so that those limited offerings and further limited in consumption volume. Reduced catering - despite their advertising splurge - and, yes, PB policing is now non-existent even when they do offer PB itself ... and despite other reports above, I've found BNE to be the best at this of late.

I'll be going through BNE, MEL, SYD and OOL within the next 48hrs ... will see how that transpires.

A quick update have been through the following ports with mixed success over the last couple of day.

MEL - Preboarding announced and executed well
SYD - Preboarding announced and executed well
DRW - Preboarding announced and executed well however with no dedicated PB lane if you weren't there at the start it becomes a zoo
BNE - Preboarding announced and executed well

By preboarding do you mean priority boarding? Preboarding is usually for families with small children and folks with mobility issues.

I have never heard pre-boarding called on a domestic flight. Only on international.

They certainly have called preboarding at MCY on several occasions. But then at one stage the Sunshine Coast LGA had the highest proportion of over 60s in Australia and the highest proportion of under 16s in QLD.Hence many potential pre boarders.
