Qantas Business Class meals & menus

20OCT BNE-SYD
10:10AM departure
Options were a) toasted sandwich; or b) salad with buffalo mozeralla, chickpeas, beetroot, spinach and celery.

Only water offered as pre-departure drink. Opted for the salad. Only after something light as I was about to hit up the SYD F lounge. Was OK-ish. The dressing was quite tasty. Spinach was a bit wilted and meh.

20OCT SYD-CHC
7:25PM departure
Options were a) chicken with vegetables and mash; b) beef and rice; or c) some salad thing with prosciutto in it. A lamington creme slice was the dessert.

Pre-departure drink of still, sparking and bubbles offered. Opted for chicken. The veggies, mash and sauce were nice. The chicken was a bit rubbery and tough. Probably the kind of meal I would expected in International Y. Would go the beef option next time. The dessert was nothing special.

Still Grant Burge bubbly as of last week.

Matthew! How on earth can you even contemplate drinking that GB swill!:p

However, PJM, who prefers a veg-dominant option, may very well like that salad if we get it PER-SYD two weeks tomorrow... ;)

I was hoping it would be the new one - so was a little disappointed to see that bottle come out. (First world problems! 😝)

Bacon, leek and gruyere frittata (easily the best frittata I've had on a QF flight) and banana, pear and mango energiser (this was pretty good too)

Overall food was quite good, only issue was the speed of service. We pushed back a few min early of the 10pm departure, but the first course wasn't served until 11:20pm (1:20am in Sydney) according to timestamps on my photos. It took another hour get through the whole service and get dessert plates cleared.

I was in row 1, it would've been even more frustrating being down the back of the J cabin.

Plus of course the regular breakfast menu.

I had the Port wonton soup which was quite nice.

On QF19 (apologies, forgot to get the menu), i made a mistake and got what was billed as Creme Brulee as my dessert. It was pretty ordinary at best.

QF642 PER - SYD Oct 27th sched 0500

Good and on time (takeoff at 0514 for a scheduled 0500 in spite of being a full flight, a glimmer of hope that QF is getting back to its old self) flight in 1A, very friendly and attentive service from CSM Freddie.
Pre departure beverage and printed menu still sadly MIA though.

More than passable breakfast of cheese and chive omelette with bacon and spinach, with Dean’s caramelised onion relish ( a favorite ingredient in my home burgers) as an optional addition. Bread service still not returned, but a pastry which tasted much better than it looked made up for this somewhat.

The stalwart Grant Burge bubbles have gone, but the replacement The Lane Lois from the ADL hills punched above its weight for a non methode trad, and the lighter blanc de blancs does go down very well in the morning.

The Lois was deemed worthy of a noch eins, nuts and pretzels were served with this.

BNE-MEL 7:15am 27 Oct 2022

Frittata, sausages, tomato & spinach. Greek yogurt + an apple & rhubarb muffin which came after the photo. All tasted pretty good. No sparkling offered which was a little disappointing though.

QF 23
SYD-BKK 10:50 26th OCT

PDB, sparkling water, juice, champagne (Duval-Leroy) opted for the champagne

Pre lunch aperitif skyspritz (because why not, it was ok, not really my thing) almonds.

Lunch. Thai fish cakes, a bit dry but tasty. Beef fillet borderline well done to dry, always a bit of a risk, crème brûlée a bit grainy, should have picked something else.

Pinot gris to drink, I forgot which now, was ok.

So all up not really that great.

I skipped the final meal as I was not feeling great by the end of the flight, got a little bumpy in spots so I think suffered my first ever airsickness because as soon as I had my feet on solid ground for 15 mins I was right as rain.

06:40 departure

There was a hot and cold option. I had the hot cheese & chive omelette with bacon, spinach, tomato and Beerenberg onion relish.

It was nothing special - clearly reheated from frozen and there was a pool of liquid in the bottom of the dish.

Once again a prompt departure and takeoff in spite of the long taxi to 16L. Good flight in 2A, great service from CSM Shayne and FAs Tayesha and Karen. No PDB or printed menus once again.

The same omelette as the way over was on offer so went with the other hot option of scrambled eggs, pork sausage, hash brown, beans and spinach for comparison. A case of something tasting much better than it looked — while the appearance was low rent and reminiscent of the Y breakfast served on AN back in the 90s, it was actually very tasty, especially the bacon infused hash brown. Still would give the edge to the omelette.

Accompanying passionfruit yogurt and blueberry pastry also good, the later served separately which added a nice pre-covid vibe.

The Lois sparkles was again the oenological offering, have decided that this one hits the spot quite nicely for a breakfast tipple, given the realistic limits of what sparkling is going to be served in Dom J. Talking to CSM Shayne, this one is going to be the standard on PER flights, but shorter hops on the east coast are still getting the mini bottles of GB to minimize wastage.

Nuts/pretzels served with the top up of Lois. Apparently they have cracked 4 bottles for this flight, so it is obviously going down well with the punters!

Kez's salted caramel/ white choc bites served later on. Pretty satisfied by this stage, so stashed them away to give to the kids.

No welcome water, no menu. Full flight with some aussie cricket team? So loading of passengers and push back had no gap. As soon as door closed we pushed back 😮 and safety video too.

Choice was prosciutto salad of edamame charred broccoli and brown rice which I had and enjoyed. Tasty. The wine was Sauvignon Blanc from Howard which was ok sweeter than I expected even for a SB. 3990BF94-3B7B-4D60-A832-51187683C470.jpegThe other option was a leek and cheese pie.
