Not uncommon these days, many gen-Z or younger people prefer this pronoun, whether they are nonbinary or just prefer not to use gendered pronouns as a sign of being an ally. Good that the mother and journalist are respecting it, if that's the situation.
Agree. Sorry, I wasn't really clear about my surprise. I would have thought you'd refer to your child, not your son if you are using their.
 
Son could have a partner and/or kids too and “they” refers to the family … as in the family could not survive.
 
Yeh, agree. Nowhere as bad as many of the stories we've come across here.

My only charitable thought about the LTG thing - is maybe she's well along the journey to LTG already, and whilst we may think it's unreasonable, maybe (who knows) she's sitting on 13,500 SC's already, so she didn't see at as quite so entitled, and the journalist wouldn't have a clue.
I take the point, but I still disagree.. I mean it's still disconnected from the issues referred to in the story. Now if the issues were for whatever reason she wasn't getting the SC she felt she was entitled to that would take her over the line then sure.. go to town (but this would not even make it to news.com.au imo as that really is not something that would press the buttons of the masses imo).

and that she even knows about LTG and has it as some sort of goal suggests she's a fairly hooked in customer (borne by the fact that even after the big screw up she KEPT booking QF..... or trying...) so if she was close, then chances are she'd make it soon anyway, specially buying J fares. If she's not close, then it's even more of an unreasonable request.

hmm I'm near 40k LTSC.. well if I have a ticketing issue I think I should get LTP.....

You're probably almost certainly right. But I just like presenting alternative narratives, because sure as excrement, we are not getting the full picture (with anything in the media - or social media - we read or even hear/see unless unedited). I blame Frontline and MediaWatch for this, otherwise I'd be happy to accept everything as fact and pile-on like everyone else 😛 🤣

LOL I am nearing 2k LTSC. I guess I will have to hope for LTS after my recent hassles.
Seriously though, $2000 seems very fair but if she wants some sort of service in return for her hassles, a year of QANTAS Club seems a more reasonable request. I would take the voucher!

I frankly don't understand the issue with this story. Sometimes Qantas runs promotions where they offer double status credits. Other times they offer promotions where you get double billed for your flight. They were just unlucky to book at the wrong time! 🤣
