Qantas DSC October 2024 Offer - book by 31/10/24 & fly 1/11/24-19/10/25

I think the problem was the relative lack of reasonable fares this time around. I know they tend to (mysteriously ) dry up during the DSC promotions, but for anyone looking to book revenue fares, there wasn't much on offer.

This!

Plus coupled with fact it was the second DSC promo of the year with 4 month overlap in validity period. I already had sufficient future bookings to reatin status.

Also noting the NZ sale fares for summer were cheaper in the Feb promo than October; and Dom J seats were on sale for $450 in Feb, the sale in Oct was $565.

The timing of this promo would normally suit me better than the one earlier in the year, but I’m not sure yet when/if I’ll fly internationally in 2025.

It's more of the timing overlap than anything else. Covered Feb/Mar/April for me if i expect another DSC in Q1 2025.

Also people aren't quite talking about it as much hut there seems more value in this round with QBR also offering double points. I'm not sure if those will count as tier points but that could also be a factor if it does (I'll find out at the end of Nov). Those points are nothing to sneeze at for extra free points especially if its longer distances.

Just checked my account and I have been awarded DSC for a flight taken on 30th October. I had originally booked the flight for 29th Departure but changed it during the DSC promo to depart one day later. Wasn't expecting the bonus but I'll take it!

The new intern seems very efficient!

When did you originally book this flight?

Hang on... 3 weeks ago would pre-date the latest DSC promotion, wouldn't it? Did you cancel and re-book during the promo period? Or just changed your flight?
Cancelled first day of promotional period as I needed to change the date. I cancelled for a credit and rebooked the same day hoping I would get DSC. However, I then realised that the new flight wouldn't qualify given it departed on 30th October. But it did qualify.

Good Grief, well done!

I was a tad annoyed, as I booked on the 29th for the 30th that I would not get the DSC as the window did not start until Friday.
MEL-ZNE, for 60. I really could use the extra, however sadly no joy here....

Interesting. As was said earlier in the thread, seems QANTAS is now crediting DSCs to flights booked inside the booking window with flight credits from bookings made outside the window.

Is the new policy with flight credits to determine DSC eligibility based on the date the actual flight flown was booked, and no longer the date the original flight was booked? We will see…
