Qantas Error Fare: First Class to Los Angeles from Sydney $4,299 return @qantas.com (several dates incuding xmas holidays)

So a "sale" fare could be a "mistake " whenever the airline deems it to be

No. Whether a fare is a mistake is a matter of fact. It either is, or it isn’t. Any claim would need to be supported by evidence that would satisfy legal scrutiny.

Even if it is a mistake, it doesn’t necessarily allow the ticket to be voided. It has to be ‘obvious’ for a start under QF’s contract of carriage. Outside the contract of carriage, if an airline is going to argue cancellation on the grounds of mistake, it has to satisfy a number of elements. Which may or may not be easy, depending on the circumstances.

Received my $200 Amex credit for the fully refunded fare. Fingers crossed it doesn't get reversed.

If the refund value is identical to that paid, the Amex credit will very likely be removed.
They refunded it in two transactions, fare and CC fee, but charged it as a single transaction. So I guess we will see.

Just arrived in Portland this evening. Qantas staff were fantastic. I guess there was no flag on the booking indicating that I should be treated with contempt for paying so little! Unfortunately no points upgrade to First, but fingers crossed for the trip home.

Were you on the 11, departing 4 Nov?

So no inadvertent spilling of red wine over your trousers, or serving of a tasteless special meal that you hadn't ordered, or change of seat to the windowless window seat that you had apparently requested, etc. :D

Or at least no more tasteless than to be expected if it wasn't the snapper, I dare say...?

Yes! But not on the $4299 fare :(

I had the steak which was really good! Still (very) pink in the middle and tender.

It was a good flight… left on time, arrived on time. The meal service seems much quicker these days!
I also had the surprisingly good steak . Do they have a barbecue on board and open a window, or is it pre cooked and reheated? Either way it was a lot better than I expected! I was toward the back of the cabin and it seemed like nearly everyone else was served before me, but I wasn’t in a particular rush to be anywhere.

I’ve flown J before but I only learned of the A380 upper deck lounge through AFF (thanks!) so the bottomless (until everyone was kicked out for some reason I didn’t catch) self-service wine was a revelation.

Just reheated on board I think!

I was in row 23 or 24 I think. I was watching a movie to the service pace was just right. Then I slept until breakfast!
