Panning a trip to London next year in May and thinking of trying to book 2 award seats in F. I checked Expert Flyer to see a general availability on F Award seats on Qantas flights. I only ever can find 1 seat on most flights. I guess this would be an impossible task. That brings me to my next question. Has anybody ever got another F Award seat released. I'm Qantas Platinum member or alternatively got 2 award seats on another one world member. Just trying to adjust my expectations of what to expect when the time comes to do the serious search.

No never managed to get extra F award released nor managed to get awarded F seats changed to different flight. "Computer says no."

But we usually do manage to book 2 x F awards to LHR / Europe every year with booking several months in advance. Normally flying EK F

QF (AFAIK) never release extra award seats on other airlines. That's up to the other airline. ..

One just has to keep trying and looking at different ports.

i wouldnt bother with QF first until they make it competitive with others.

CX first wins over QF any day. plus a stop of a CX lounge in hongkong never hurts.

I have been able to get 2 F rewards with QF in the past (P1). I have also snagged 2 F with QR. The best option for QF points will most likely be EK there is normally decent availability.

One F award seems normal with QF. As WP twice successful this year requesting an additional F seat when only one award seat showing. Plus successful this year requesting two award QF F seats for family. Unsuccessful with additional award J seat with one showing as available later this year. Depends on inventory available that can be auto released by computer. You need to speak with QF Angel service, the earlier the better. Keep looking as award seats can list if sales are slow. Good luck.

Whenever that last double status release was husband managed a 1st class to new York in Dec with Cathay booked through Qantas.
I was on the phone with the Platinium line querying why I couldn't do a particular F reward booking and she then booked this one. She did say there was only one.
Husband is flying Cathay I am flying Qantas home
Have to say I was surprised considering it was 22nd Dec flying home
It seemed much easier to book Cathay than Qantas

Agree, as only a SG I saw 4 * F award availability when I booked our family of 4 between HKG and LHR and return J award for later this year, from memory I saw 4 * F on both BA (HKG-LHR) and CX (LGW-HKG). Of course I was only able to get 4 * PE between MEL-HKG, but that's day time flying for the shorter of the two legs between Oz-Eu so I we can live with that. :p

Where do you search for other oneworld award seats? Do you go the the respective airline websites or is there an easier way?
Qantas seem to show very limited award seats for other oneworld members. i sometimes see CX award seats but haven yet come across any EK seats

I had this issue last year. Had been waiting for F seats open up. Family were happy with EK and I think within 5 minutes of release I had 2 Award tickets. Does it have to be Qantas if they don’t release 2? Maybe call up first before seats are released and gauge your chances.

I’ve had lots of EK award seats. Search from Adelaide.

No it doesn't have to be Qantas, i would be pretty happy to fly out of anywhere in Australia to anywhere in Europe with any airline as long they have decent seat quality. It doesn't even have to be first all the way. Only ever had one free upgrade to first with Qantas and that was pretty nice. I seriously need to burn some points. Unfortunately this will than throw me of Platinum those trips kept me going since i'm a self funded traveler. My final destination will be Frankfurt.

Yea! Just scored two QF FF flights on EK F MAD-BNE in mid May on points. Interesting that they seem to release them quite close to the dates.
