Hi! I am flying Jetstar international in a few days and as a QF platinum FF am wondering if anyone knows if I am able to use the qantas first class check in suite at Sydney airport to check in prior to the Jetstar 3 hour departure time? Many thanks!

Simple answer is no you will have to que. up with everyone else at Jetstar not even priority check in. Suggest online check in and earliest possible bag drop off to maximise lounge time.

Excellent so no need to go any where near any check in counters then head top the lounge as early as you want :) Enjoy

Tell me, how can you do that when JQ require you to check in in-person?

I'm flying MEL-SIN in business class and that's what they have told me. I'm flying on a full Australian passport, with 5 years validity remaining. And I'm QF Platinum.

You can't.

But with HLO you now can use the kiosks and IME at MEL they are pretty fast! The kiosk scans your passport and issues your BP.

Thanks for that. I'll give it a go. More time in the FCL (hopefully).

Yep. Can attest. Queue up is your only option. And they are very uncooperative with that. Wasted heaps of time land side waiting to be allowed to check in

What about the JQ Business Class lane? Technically on the Status Benefits page, it just says you can checkin at First counters, or where not available Business class.. Doesn't refer to QF or JQ etc.

But that is a One World Alliance and Emirates Benefit where as JQ is not a part of the Alliance(s). So no you do not get access to the business line as a WP or higher.

The higher your tier, the more benefits you receive, such as Status Bonuses (earning a greater number of Qantas Points1 for each eligible flight), priority check-in, lounge access and much more. The benefits go far beyond the Qantas network too. Find out about privileges you'll receive on oneworld® alliance airlines and Emirates. Check out the benefits and rewards of each tier in the table below.

Just did that with HLO. Absolutely great, took all of one minute and I was on my way. Just couldn't use the machine until the flight was available, about 3.5 hours prior to departure.

And I was quite impressed with the JQ business class. Seat 1A is fine, and the free drinks were unlimited. The Shiraz wasn't too bad either.

Nothing like the JQ of old. I'd be happy to do it again.

can I ask, if flying with jetstar as a platinum, do I also need to purchase baggage?

regards

TQ
Yes. QF status counts for nothing when flying on JQ, with the exception of access to QF-operated lounges.
