Travelled to HKG on the complimentary upgrade J-> F one way offer recently and we were contacted by the F host one day before departure to take spa appointment and asked if we need any luggage assistance at kerbside on the day. I can assure you we're not famous.

This is the standard call that everyone gets.

What seems to be the difference is those that actually get escorted by the F host from check-in to the lounge, from lounge to gate, or get met at gate on arrival.

Does anyone have any experience with on-line check in and then baggage drop off with BA, can the bags be dropped off at any time or does it have to be 3 hours before the flight also? Really upset I'm missing out on the whole host experience.... did I miss something that QF no longer fly first to HKG??

I'd say 3 hours beforehand only. Happy to be proven wrong but with just one flight per day why would BA pay for staff to hang around in the hope the someone might check in early? If you are REALLY desperate you could always go somewhere else the day before and fly back to Sydney early on QF and have your bags checked through.

Oh I'm actually flying from OOL with QF the night before so i could get them to check my bags all the way thru providing I don't need anything from them for the night.....
God i love the knowledge on this site, someone always has a solution. :)

QF as a rule will not through check for a flight not going the same day, if it's a connection via a domestic flight you will need to collect and recheck.

Agree that is the general rule, Markis10. I hesitated to dash kody's hopes, though, as we have managed to circumvent that rule a couple of times. (Don't ask me for details. Lost in the mists of time and my blurry airport memories. :)) Always worth a try - but should not be taken as a given, by any means.

As an update to this - I checked in 3.25 hours before departure the other day. Looked like the Qantas agents were settling in so you might be actually be able to check in up to 3.5 hours beforehand
