Hi All,

I booked a flight (MEL-ADL) for me and a friend (visiting Australia) and now I need to cancel as I will not be taking this journey. The ticket was a Red e-deal, so if I cancel I get hardly anything back apart from about $25 in taxes, but I can get a flight credit.

Reading everything I have seen, these flight credits appear to be very difficult to use. My question is, how can I use this flight credit if I wanted to travel alone in the future? Or does any future booking HAVE to be with the exact same passengers? Chances are I will be in Aus a few times before the flight credit would expire, but my friend may not be. So it would be great if I could use it for a booking just for myself - is this possible?

Separate yourself from the booking first using Manage Booking. This will create a seperate booking reference with just you on it which you can then cancel to a flight credit. You can then use the flight credit for just yourself. Note that a $99 change fee will be deducted when you go to use the flight credit. Your friend can still travel in this scenario, or you could also cancel their booking to a flight credit which they can use.

Also worth noting that as the original fare was a Red e-deal it won't be possible to change the names on the flight credits, they'll be issued under the original passenger names.
