Qantas flight operated by Cathay- which lounge do I get access to?

I did not realise and was slightly confused where you referred to a post re busness class passengers and lounge access. So are you travelling business or first class?

I thought First class could use any lounge where as business class cannot use First class lounge unless Oneworld Emerald.

not sure which post I was talking about business class :)

I was commenting following Markis10's post it now looks like I will be able to use the CX F lounge in future when departing HKG rather than being relegated to the QF F lounge which I thought had come into effect with the new OW rules limiting access to the F lounge of the departing carrier. My standard class of travel is first (except of course for domestic and intra Asia/Europe)

As much as I love the CX lounges if flying F on QF I would be using the QF F lounge until the new Wing opens - QF normally fly from gates 15 - 19 (in my experience), the CX J at the Wing lounge though stunningly pretty is not much of a step up from the QF F lounge. The pier is too far away.

It is OK. I am probably the one that is confused. You quoted a post from markis10 where he was specifically referring to J pax regardless of status and you referring to QF F lounge.

One world airlines have always welcomed other alliance members J pax regardless of status. The wording changes didnt stick apparently , and I am not aware of anyone who has been refused admittance.
that is good news! Thanks for the heads-up! I was worried I'd be stuck in the QF F lounge next time I was leaving HKG!!
I guess if business class passengers can use any business class lounge then first class passengers can use any lounge. Apologies....

Ah - I see! I just assumed the good news for business class would also apply to first! (although maybe it won't given that just about all J lounges are of reasonably similar quality in a given airport, but the home carrier's F lounge will usually be far superior...)

I have been denied access as a OWE flying out on the SYD flight - sent to the caterpillar lounge or the SAA lounge (?Baobab). It was definitely in contravention of access rules, but the QF airport manager had specifically asked the BA lounge staff not to grant access. They told me it was because he didn't want QF to be billed for the access fee.

Wow! Did you send a complaint?

F passengers get the same rights to access any lounge and guesting privileges.

To be honest, I couldn't be bothered. The SAA lounge was crowded and ****ty, but the one downstairs was pretty reasonable.
I suppose I could have complained, but my experience of giving feedback to QF has been that I've pretty much been wasting my time.

I booked a HKG-SYD J class flight via qantas.com but it's operated by Cathay (CX 101). In hong kong, which lounge do I get access to? And also, do I get to bring a guest?

Just thought I'd mention that booking a CX flight through the QF website does not mean it is a QF codeshare flight if the flight booked is CX101 which is CX metal.

A QF codeshare flight is when the flight booked has a QF flight number (called a QF marketed flight) but operated by another airline.

Whether your CX101 flight was booked via www.qantas.com or www.cathaypacific.com makes no difference to obtaining lounge access so you would be able to access CX J Lounges based on your travel class of J.

As others have mentioned if you have QF fflyer gold (One World Sapphire) you could use any of the One World lounges.

I'm surprised QF sold a CX flight HKG-Aus that wasn't an award booking (and even then I haven't seen it on awards either)

The OP has not confirmed whether it was a paid or points bookings.

I have seen CX flights come up between PER and HKG when looking for award availability.
