Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

Silly question but when you qualify for green tier half way through your membership year you get it instantly for 1.5 years (and can obviously pick a benefit instantly) however when it comes time to the yearly review 0.5 years later (with still a year to go), do you get to pick again for the last 1 year of your green tier. I can see some threads above talking about double dipping, is this the same?

Kind of, you need to do all of the activities again to get the bonus points or sc again.
Yeah, that was my situation as well. After my 0.5 year of green and rolling into the new full year of green, I thought this would mean I would get the reward offer again automatically without needing to do the leaves, but my leaves were wiped so need to collect them again.

I guess that would have allowed me to claim twice in less than two years, and potentially triple dipping rewards in one membership year. So makes sense now that's not how it works.

A new way to earn a leaf has been introduced - the Safeful app is now a partner.

You will earn 100 Qantas points and a leaf for downloading the app and completing 4 weekly surveys. The leaf will be in the same category as the Wellbeing app quiz, so it's a potential alternative for those who have issues with the quiz appearing and need to earn that leaf.

Note: There's no info on the QF website about being able to do this annually, so potentially be selective about when you complete this.

Here's what upsets me. I try and live a sustainable life, I have 12.32Kws of panels on my roof, I have a 15Kw Sonnen Battery that runs my house when the sun goes down, I drive an EV that is charged from my surplus solar power. I have a Sanden Hot system that uses heat pump technology to heat my water and a Spack-Bedu pool pump that uses almost no power to run my pool pump. I do all I can but yet nothing from Qantas.

Considering GT is a program that all but requires you to book a flight or do other carbon generating activities to earn "green credentials", I'm not sure you're the target market for this

Have read up a little but confirming this is the cheapest current way to achieve green tier?
  1. Quiz - Free
  2. Offset flight
  3. Offset marketplace delivery ($1 + cheapest item $5 + $8 delivery)
  4. Donation - 3200 points
  5. Offset home - TAS $30
Net $44 + 3200 points ...

Yes, but can be less dollars and slightly net less points.

#2 - it might have changed but try and spend at least $1 eg SYD-MEL (or return)

#3 can be combined with #4 or #5 (no need to buy anything extra).

If you buy QF Wine, there’s quite a lot of “sustainable” wine now, so that can also trigger #3(?) - although that’s a cheap one anyway.

They should all post 1 to 2 days after purchase. Including #2 (the actual flight could be months away - just pay the offset at time of booking for a more reliable result).

You earn points on the $s spent so it’s closer 3000 pts. Not including any bonus points you could earn on QF wine.

Once you’ve booked and paid to offset a flight(s) the rest can be done in a day and GT awarded ~48hrs later. You’ll have at least 3 mths to chose SCs or PTS.

Any chance QFF will close the loophole on offsetting in a different state to where the QFF member is registered?

Unlikely, but even if they did there’s a bunch of “sustainable” hotels now that offer an alternative for those who might chose to stay at one of those, including some cheapish Accor properties.

More $ than offsetting a home but if you book and stay at one anyway, then it’s a “free” leaf. Similar to the wine example - plus you earn pts booking on QF hotels.

You can offset the delivery of setting off your home. Saves you buying a rondom item on the store and the delivery cost

Anyone got any tips for an easy/easier flight offset? My review date is 30 June and the only flights I have booked at the moment are international for 3pax so would cost ~25k pts to offset.

Don't suppose the offset a random flight thing still works (did it ever)?

If you were to book a cheap flex fare with offset but had to cancel that (for cash or voucher) after the leaf posts, you might be in luck. The offset 🍃 posts in about 48hrs.

Alternatively, do any of the cheap Green Hotel Stays work for you?

Can you confirm the leaf is credited before you actaully fly?

That's been my experience (but I've always flown the flights with offsets).

Early on there were a few peeps that had to cancel CR flights during the Covid "Free cancellation" days who kept their leaf.

I offset my house and donated some points to charity yesterday via Qantas Marketplace to get my final green leaves - both were marked off in my account today so less than 24 hours to be posted.

I'll hold on the 50 SC reward for next my next membership year that begins 1st June. With Points Club Plus SC rollover, I'm already at 150 SC with no flights yet taken.
