Qantas Hotels tips

May I ask a question here please? I’ve booked a qantas hotel with free cancellation using the $50 hotel voucher, if I cancelled the booking, will I get the $50 vouchers back for next time use? Thx
As above, they tend to be non-refundable but I have had some points in lieu credited. Can’t help to ask.

I find Qantas Hotels to be generally competitive with all other third party booking sites. Sometimes the bonus points can be huge although sometimes the price is higher during a big points offer. I usually don't cross check beyond booking.com but always cross check with the hotel direct and have sometimes found better deals. Booking direct with a hotel also increases chances of upgrade, perks etc
Having followed this thread over the past few days, I put all the info to the test. We need to be in Darwin for 2 days mid June. Checked out the Darwin City Hotel. Basic Queen Room in Friday, out Sunday. Booking.com $498 non-refundable; QF $534 non-refundable but comes with 1600 points: The hotel web site $377 non-refundable said to be ‘today’s special’. Have 9 hours left to confirm.

Darwin in June is possibly not a representative sample given the peak season but very curious that booking direct was still cheaper (and useful to know).

For sh*ts and giggles, if you’re bored check some random places and dates that you might be interested in and see how it compares.

We're going to a wedding so had no choice on the timing, therefore haven't looked at other options...

Yeah, I figured that booking was specific timing. My point was that pretty much May thru July is peak season, so maybe not most representative of QF Hotels. Instead, look at hypothetical future stays again, if you were bored (eg anyone waiting for a Sydney train today).

We have three overseas trips for my wife’s work schedule coming up with Milan in May, Leeds in September, and Glasgow next year but don’t know when yet, but will be doing the same comparisons for them.

Qantas Hotels can be great value sometimes.

Last year the hotel Chicago hotel i wanted was over $100 a night cheaper on Qantas than on the hotels direct website even though i was gold in their reward program; and had heaps of bonus points.$500+ saving on the stay trumped a free welcome drink.

I always check IHG/Accor/Hilton directly and then compare with QF hotels. Recently couldnt find a suitable hotel (i.e. one with walk in shower not a wretched shub) at decent price for upcoming stays on any of the hotel programs which i have status, so booked some independent hotels through QF for great value with bonus inclusions in AUD.

I had a recent experience in Lisbon where booking through Qantas hotels saved me over $40 a night
Hi @VPS, have also booked our Portugal accommodation through Qantas Hotels, this time with x9 points offer and same price as Booking.com.
I find it easy to manage hotel stays and if price drops, call them and they refund the difference.
May I ask which area you chose?

Thx for help. So if The price of hotel I booked drops, can I call Qantas ask for the difference refunded?

Welcome to AFF @neokok.
If the booking is fully refundable, I have called up cancelled and rebooked while on the phone. Full refund the next/same day.
In some instances I have needed to change the date, add or remove one night and the prevailing rate of that day is applied - hence refund if lower.
Note though, if you want to add/remove a night and it is higher then you obviously get charged the higher rate.
E.g, booked 2 nights in Amsterdam @AUD 645, now only need one night, rate had gone up to AUD410 per night, I would have been refunded AUD 235, not the initial 322.50 per night rate.
So to answer your question, yes, you could ring and ask for the booking to be amended to te lower rate.

I stayed here Lisbon Wine Hotel. It was a great location - not far from a subway station and very flat and easy to walk around

Thanks for that VPS, we are only a minute's walk away!
I did look at your hotel but chose another as it has a pool, albeit small, as I believe it can get warm in September!

Just be aware that some of that area is pedestrian only so Uber can't get down there. Uber is incredibly cheap in Lisbon. Hopefully I'll get around to my TR before you go but if you have any questions feel free to ask away here

Thank you, enjoy and hope the lurgy has gone 🤗

Booked a room 2 days ago used $50 PC voucher, today notice price go down.
Called hotel support requested refund difference but refused.
Should I keep HUCA? If I cancel myself and rebook, I will lose the $50 voucher.

My understanding is anytime you use a voucher and then cancel, you forfeit the voucher😒
Happy to be corrected on this though.

Suppose that the price had gone up. How about the hotel then asking for more money to cover the new rate? What would we think of that? 🤔
