I don't know what you're hearing, but it sounds to me like mixing up old news regarding the A350-1000ULR MTOW issue (they needed EASA certification to increase the max take off weight - thus allowing the aircraft to take on more fuel).

It was approved in October 23.

Pretty sure all is good. With today's engineering, you don't just suddenly end up "overweight by a significant margin", especially when it's just a variant of an existing type.
The extra tanks had design / certification delays but they passed the hurdle last year (as per previous he article I posted earlier).

Yes but thinking of known issues related to weight, I’d say it was the MTOW certification.

Or just making stuff up. The first goes into production in months - I would have believed it a few years ago but not now.

I read the OPs question as endurance that definitely requires the extra fuel tanks that a standard -1000 doesn’t have, so that also required additional certification.

There are others here who have repeatedly said that SR won’t happen as intended but that chatter seems to have gone quiet.

Yeah obviously they need extra tanks.

Basically the equivalent of the 747-400ER which QF was the launch and only customer.
