I got something like that from AA for my recent trip.
The only thing that changed was the flight number. Everything else (times, aircraft type, etc) remained the same.

What date is your flight?

I'm not sure they'd be bothering with NRT schedule changes if they knew the flight wasn't going to be operating from NRT.

I can see everyone booked on those flights to/from NRT waiting confirmation of changes....

Yes, but it’s been less than 5 months since QF started the process, so maybe not quite ready to let us know where they are at with our early April flights.

I’m under 50 days to my BNE-NRT. Or is it BNE-HND?

I'm not sure they'd be bothering with NRT schedule changes if they knew the flight wasn't going to be operating from NRT.

10th April. And yes that thought did cross my mind.

It doesn't make a huge difference to me, it's just the time to get to where we're staying -- 20 mins in a taxi (from HND) vs 3 trains / limo bus + trains taking 1h 40 (from NRT).

[Slightly off topic aside: just looking into it and contemplating booking a transfer as there's a few of us on the same flight and the company is paying. Found this mob from a quick Google -- TOKYO airporter.com -- which looks like it'd be about $100 more in total than us all getting the limo bus, but Google reckons you can drive it in under an hour vs 1h 40 it's quoting for the public transport options. Anyone here have any experience with airport transfers from NRT? Or recommended providers?]

It'll be interesting to see what experiences people have with changing flight times/connections when (if ever) the schedule change finally drops. Are there any other recent examples of QF rolling out such a major schedule change?

I got new e-ticket from QF today. SYD-ICN flight time changed by 5 mins, HND-SYD moved to an even more ungodly hour of 6:40am, still departing HND though (May).

It depends where in Tokyo you are going. There are a number of transport options between both airports and into the city. Which option is better depends on where you are going.
Some hotels have direct bus services, either to the hotel itself or to the nearest train station.

Yeah. Absolutely depends. Tbh if the Skyliner or Nex get there then I’d be on a train anyway, because it’s nicer than sitting in traffic and quicker, regardless of who is paying.

This is definitely sounding to me like the second SYD flight is staying for the time being.

Not to mention that they are still selling flights BNE-NRT and vv for May, June and July from what I can see. I haven’t bothered looking further out.

No. They're not going to stop selling tickets that go to "Tokyo".

When the schedule change happens, they're move people accordingly.

This is definitely sounding to me like the second SYD flight is staying for the time being.

That flight bounces around between 640 and 830 depending on when the later slot is wanted for domestic flights. It's been an issue for the morning QF HND departure for about a year now. It doesn't matter where the aircraft is going for that flight, if QF wants a morning (peak domestic time) departure to anywhere, then the time is going to bounce around to whatever time is available on any given day/week.

After the 4th runway opened, HND has a capacity of 557 flights/day. Of which, 164 are international (half during the night slot period).

My HND-SYD was originally an 8:40am departure then moved to 7:55am and is now 6:40 am. Whilst I would have preferred an 8am over 6:40am departure I'm still thankful that as it stands right now I will get back home on the same day.

A few months ago when there was a J sale I was looking at perhaps upgrading that leg with cash BUT being the day before school goes back the flight was pretty chockers and so there were no affordable seats (even the whY seats were significantly more expensive then when we booked last July).

Id say they realised school holidays (Easter late April through to 4th May) where flights are pretty solidly booked was not the time to reduce HND-SYD flights to only 1.

If the 6:40am flight does becomes a BNE flight I expect QF to move me to that rather than move to a night time SYD flight or have to schlep over to NRT (not really practical at that time of the morning when airport hotels were booked 10 months out). I have to be on a morning flight as i cant take another day off work.
