Qantas' Impending Change to Tokyo Flight Schedule

No. They're not going to stop selling tickets that go to "Tokyo".

When the schedule change happens, they're move people accordingly.

QF is going to be very careful with this after the recent ACCC court case.

Swapping between NRT & HND is not trivial, it will break connecting itineraries. And there is the matter of pax who have booked non-refundable hotels.

I'm sure the changes will happen at some point, but I can't see QF just sitting on the changes without announcing them. There hasn't been a single QF media release about the extra HND capacity.

I agree which is very strange.

I suspect what may end up happening is them applying for some sort of extension to the start date or just shifting MEL initially. That would be less disruptive (and if you need NRT, it is still possible to shift to MEL - BNE - NRT as those flights land around the same time in NRT).

That's what I was thinking, or doing a 4/3 split between HND & NRT for both MEL & BNE until the NW schedule starts.

And weirdly another change to same flight today and another e-ticket. 6:40 has become 6:55.
The timetable for QF26 is currently showing a 0640 departure until Apr 21, where it changes to 0655, then back to 0640 at the start of June.

I got all excited when I got an email saying my booking on QF 26 had changed.
It turned out the departure time was going to be 15 minutes later.
I think I can live with that.

Same happened with me…only it was a change of 5 minutes!
Have you accepted or will you go via SIN, ADL, HBT and JFK? ;)

It's pre-NS schedule change season. Getting them from heaps of airlines for all different routes.

Currently booked to fly HND-SYD-MEL on QF26 (the early morning departure) and with the slight time adjustment, the connection time in Sydney is down to 2 hours - a bit tight for my liking with customs and immigration plus a terminal transfer to contend with, and I didn't fancy the thought of missing the flight and having to unexpectedly overnight in Sydney.

Called QF to see if there's any possibility of changing to NRT-MEL on QF80 - agent picked up almost instantly but after doing the rounds with support and her supervisor, she eventually advised that the system wouldn't allow a change in departure airport :(

The airport is quiet at that time. Last trip we were landside 30mins after getting off the plane. The qf transfer desk is to the right after you exit and will take your bags and put you into secure area there. They also do track you so they probably know the situation of qf26.

One of my qf26 had at least a dozen melb transfer pac on the flight.

Manilla Call Centre? Not quite sure how that would be. Maybe there’s no availability from NRT that day? Is this an award booking? Have you already started the trip?

Didn't ask and couldn't tell from the accent this time, but I am NB so it most likely was one of the pleb contact centres.

Yep these are U award seats and the ticket is wholly unused. Definitely no more U availability that day across any of the flights, but revenue inventory is available on QF80. Funnily, I just checked the reservation and can see a confirmed QF80 sector now on the booking (in class D), so requested an e-ticket to see if the agent ended up working some magic - but nope, the e-ticket itself is unchanged, so I imagine the sector will drop off at some stage.
