Qantas incorrectly requiring PCR test. Any point seeking a refund?

Agreed, was Qantas in the wrong? Absolutely. Is it worth following up with Qantas to get back less than $100, nope.

If you truly feel ripped off chose to fly with someone else next time.

Side note: COVID rules are changing just so quickly, so I can't imagine what it would be like for an international check in staff. It's likely that the check in Agent had the exact same argument with someone going to a destination that a PCR was a requirement earlier in the day.

$100, nice to get back.

The sense of achievement in victory, priceless!

Yes, sometimes you just need the satisfaction regardless of what it will cost you.
I was being a bit flippant. But recovering a loss of $79 here is no different to a hotel incorrectly charging you for the minibar, or a car rental charging you for fuel when you returned it with a full tank. Losing the money is just part of the issue, the principle is the other.

I've had my own negative experiences with Qantas recently that were quite frankly negligent, rather than simply naive. The company should realise that the decisions their staff make have consequences, and they should be held accountable (just as passengers are).

I keep thinking of this AFR article, titled "How Qantas plans to win you back" where Qantas chief customer officer Stephanie Tully is quoted as saying:

“There are new things you need to do, some countries require tests..."

“The way we get our customers ready for that and feeling prepared to fly is all about digital hand-holding from the moment they book to the moment they board. There’s a real opportunity for Qantas because Qantas can play that role better than any other airline.”

Qantas is also prepared to help Australians navigate the increasingly complex world of international travel, seeing it as an opportunity to increase its share of customer preference over its rivals.

Pray tell us Qantas, how do you think you're doing so far?
