Qantas Increases Legroom Charges; Changes to Row 4 selection on most 737 flights

"Instead, the airline argues this change will favour Platinum One and Chairman’s Lounge members by reducing the T-80 grab for primo seats at no extra cost."
Thankfully WP can still choose them to go across the ditch when business class is a waste of money.

Wouldn't this in theory not benefit P1/CL as anyone could pay for the seat now. Your average flyer will book generally earlier than your P1s unless its DSC season.

That being said, most exit row seats aren't booked on short haul legs so maybe they think there's biters at 3-4h distance?
I agree, won’t businesses just add it to the cost of the seat when booking for senior staff guaranteeing their execs row 4? So it’s just opportunity to rake in some more on domestic routes.

WP is the new silver. If you want something from QF, better become an "influencer" and be invited to CL.
Ha! They would never give the likes of Hui or Chui CL. Not even the ET team.

As for the new Silver.. that goes to P1's given the amount of times agents are confused by the colour on the app BP's which is easily confused with PS.

Seriously though yeah, SG/WP have definitely been given the middle finger here.

agree!!!😡 Especially if that loyalty is self funded!

My last(?) Free rides in row 4 yesterday, treated to vacant middle seats adjacent, without even a shadow, on fullish flights.

Luck of the draw. Last time I copped a man-mountain in 4B.

cheers skip

Mine this Wednesday. Absolutely won't be paying more for row 4 in their coughpy economy.

Yes, you are correct lucky, row 4 often has 3 people but behind you can pick WP and above by spare middle seat even on fairly full flights. Never had a seat buddy so far behind 4. Wonder if that’ll change……

I thought I might try for r4 for prob the last time when I fly from Adel to Mel on Tues. But stupid me- I was previously thinking I was leaving on Wed instead of Tues - so now I missed out today as I was a day late already! Never done that before - and what a time to do it. Bugga! Im now back in row 21 - guess I had better get used to it.
Really all these so called changes for the better - Most of it seems worse to me. Bet the food etc wont improve much either. Maybe Qantas will start charging for food or in the future to try and make more money.

Seems this may have kicked in early. Went to select row 4 using T-80 today (15 April) for a domestic 737 flight and as WP was greeted by a row of green seats at $35.
