Remember that it's Vistara's existing owners, Tata Sons, which purchased AI. So they should be remaking AI in Vistara's image, not the other way around (crossing fingers!)

One would hope so. I really hope you're right. However, it's usually the junior partner that gets swallowed by the bigger one.

I'm back on the SYD-BLR-MAA-BLR-SYD route again in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, no baggage issues this time ... I'm suspecting baggage issues MAA-BLR because it's domestic and bags are not tagged all the way to AU ...

So, update to this.

Flew MAA-BLR-SYD on 10/05. Expected to have luggage allowance issues ex-MAA and I was not disappointed … 6E staff couldn’t see my OWE/QF-WP allowance of 50kg flying Y. Kept banging on about 30kg allowance and need to pay extra $ for the additional 20kg.

I then explained (in the local language) that this happens everytime I’m here and referred the check-in staff to the airport manager for 6E (I remembered his name from last time I had issues with 6E). Manager arrived, recognised me and overruled the 30kg allowance. They added my QF membership number to the override request and checked in the 45kg that I wanted to check-in.

The manager was sorry that this happens each time. I’m due in MAA in another 8 or so weeks, so will report back.

Does anyone know what Qantas means by "Business" class when it comes to lounge access on Indigo flights? Since Indigo doesn't have business class*... does this mean that Qantas somehow selling J fares anyway that give lounge access, even though it's only Y seating?

It's a pretty moot point since it looks like they don't have a partner lounge in BLR anyway.

Yes, given that the flights are different bookings. Unfortunately.

What was the destination not covered? it seems odd that only certain cities are not covered?

BLR connections only include those on this list. Something to keep in mind.

Indigo flies to several more destinations direct from BLR.

Starting today (Tuesday), passengers on Qantas flights to Singapore are able to connect seamlessly to IndiGo services into Delhi and Mumbai. The move follows IndiGo being allowed to place its code on Qantas flights from Singapore to Australia last year.

Hello All,

I am planning to fly the SYD-BLR-BOM-BLR-SYD route later this year. I am a Platinum FF and I will be booking either Red/Saver fare for this trip.

How will the luggage allowance work in my scenario? The website shows that I can check-in 50kgs, but I can't find any information on what happens once I reach BLR and have to collect my bags and check-in again for Mumbai.

Additionally can I check-in 2 bags for free? (Assuming I will be ok from SYD-BLR).

I am more concerned about the return leg because my bags will be checked in all the way to SYD from BOM. Do they now give additional allowance based on the QF status?

Has anyone had any experience on the same route recently?

Lastly, for a regular ticket without any status, is the allowance 30kgs or 15kgs from BOM-BLR-SYD?

I called both Qantas and Indigo, non of them gave me a straight answer.

You don't "check in again" at BLR. You simply drop your bags with their existing labels at the baggage drop counter after exiting customs. They won't be concerned with the number or weight, as far as airline systems are concerned the bags were already checked to their final destination at SYD, just they had to be collected due to customs regulations.

I don't have very recent experience, but my understanding is that it isn't a problem, the systems properly recognise status and relevant baggage allowances. This should also show on your e-ticket itinerary, so bring a print-out in case of any questions.

Kinda strange you can only connect on Indigo flights to Delhi and Mumbai from Singapore. Indigo flies to 6 other destinations from Singapore (Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Tiruchirappalli).

This might be because the Qantas flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth all arrive in Singapore between 16:50 and 18:15.

The Indigo flights to Delhi and Mumbai depart Singapore at 19:45, which makes for a maximum layover time of 3 hours.

The Indigo flights to all those other Indian cities depart Singapore in the dead of the night, 2-6am. This makes for a less than ideal connection. Maybe they thought uptake of those flights will be relatively low and not worth slapping a codeshare on?

Plus, if you're happy to have a stop on the way in SIN/BKK/HKG/KUL there are far cheaper options so there must be a bit of price sensitivity around it too. QF can offer a premium price for direct services into India.

I will start my trip soon, I called Indigo Airlines to confirm my luggage allowance on the way back from BOM. Apparently they will only allow 30kgs and they do not honour the QF Platinum status allowance.
Has anyone faced a similar experience recently?

In this scenario as you've booked it all on a single ticket, surely QF is the Most Significant Carrier therefore their allowance applies to all legs of the journey?
