QANTAS International Red Tail sale

Virgin Australia is running an international sale now as well. A much less interesting selection of destinations though, since VA only really flies overseas to Queenstown, Fiji, Apia, Port Vila and Bali.

Offer expires: 18 Mar 2025

- Earn up to 100,000 bonus Qantas Points*
- Enjoy an annual $450 Qantas travel credit
- Don't forget the two complimentary Qantas Club lounge invitations and two visits to the Amex Centurion Lounges in Melbourne and Sydney.

But don’t they do Qatar code share

That's not included in the current VA international sale. For all intents and purposes, Virgin is treating these as a separate product to its own short-haul international flights. But that's a topic for another thread :)

There are some decent J sale fares to NZ, but annoyingly you have to book them as a return ticket. I'm looking for a one-way fare. Might just have to nest the return.

When’s double status credits

Nobody really knows, but based on Qantas' past track record I'd expect to see another offer within the next 1-2 months.

My guess is the DSC will coincide with (or be very close to) the half yearly results, which it has done for the last couple of years. That's 27 February.

Last DSC promo only covered period to October, so I'm unlikely to book anything during this sale, as aside from international trip already booked for April I cant squeeze anymore international in travel before December.

As a note, with this sale, PE on Classic+ is getting close to Classic Reward rates - you can get SYD-LHR rt for 242,500 pts + taxes and carrier charges as a Classic Plus award, as opposed to 216,800 pts + less taxes and carrier charges for a standard Classic Reward.

Is it good value? Well, for me no, but I get that it's subjective. I guess it also highlights the lower value you get booking PE with points. Upside is there's heaps of availability for a lot of people to book PE for larger groups.

I’ve noticed several more whY routes are cheaper as CR+ than CRs. But J still a ways off.

Didn’t look too closely at PE rewards.

I've got a GV I'd like to redeem for flights in the sale, but the sale fares don't appear when redeeming... is there a trick to getting them to show up, or I need to book over the phone? There shouldn't be any restrictions on what fares you redeem your GVs on.

Need to phone. Think the discrepancy is an ongoing and documented issue.

I had no issue yesterday doing a GV booking and getting the sale fare to Japan.

Odd - they only had Business Saver and Business Flex for mine, but called up and was able to get the Business Sale fares that were not visible via the redemption method. No fee charged, as they accepted that it was not working online. Perhaps only effects certain routes.

If I may ask, what is an EDM please?
