Had to make a quick call to QF today regarding some flights next year, and as I was on the road, I didn't have paperwork with me.

No problems I thought, I'll just use the info from the QFF iPhone app.

Except My Bookings doesn't include some rather important information, namely the Booking Reference number.

Kind of defeats the purpose of having My Booking included; it's pretty light-on info wise anyway, but I would have thought something like that would be definitely included. The Thai Lion Air app shows more details than Qantas'.

Makes me question if anyone who actually flies is consulted when these things are designed, (and that includes the website version too.)

Red Roo, could you pass on this request to the team in IT?

Also frustrating... yesterday I needed to book a multi-stop itinerary, but the option is unavailable on both the app and mobile site.

Red Roo, while you're at it.. ;-)

The annoyance to me was that previously I had no issues checking-in through the app 24-hours prior to departure, and I even got a Passbook BP, but that functionality was removed and I have all sorts of problems checking-in these days through the app. It saddens me.

I've never been able to do those things, but think it's because I'm based in BKK.

Stupid actually, nobody else cares where I live - they're all very happy to take my $$$ via their mobile app.

Red Roo, looks like this app needs some major surgery to save it. ;)

I gave up on the app a while ago. I pretty much only use it to answer questions when others have problems.

I'll will pass on these 3 issues, however will continue to monitor this thread should anyone else have specific feedback about the app.

Used the App twice, the couple of issues mentioned mean I ceased using it, thought the problem might have been at my end but obviously not.

Would be good if QF had a look at BAs app. The BA app doesn't require you to be a FF member to use (but obviously easier if you are), however provides of the manage booking facilities, change seats and even gives a countdown to online check in, followed by the ability to transfer the boarding pass straight to passbook from the app. Finally it allows you to monitor the status of the flight, see the expected departure and arrival times and advises you what lounges are available to you.
The only thing extra would be the ability to upgrade with miles straight from the app.

The new qantas app did/does allow you to manually add bookings.

As for the issues mentioned I'm pretty sure the old qantas app does all the things mentioned. It certainly shows the booking reference. Suggest those who originally downloaded it reinstall it to your phone.

I used the BA app in June and found it a dream.

Pretty poor if they are "updating" the app, yet you have to continually reinstall it, to ensure it has the features you'd expect; isn't that the whole purpose of having an update?

Or does a QFF app update mean you lose everything and have to reinstall to get everything back? ;)

I agree, it would be ideal if you could use without needing a FF number - I do this a lot here in Asia with the umpteen LLC airlines; login, book the flight, pay, happy. Couldn't be easier!!

Red Roo - would also be helpful if you could actually book flights out of BKK; we no longer have to head into the office to pay, so why can't the app handle a booking BKK-Where_I_Want_To_Fly?

The suggestion to look at BA (along with other carriers apps) is a good idea - that way the IT gurus can get a handle on what a well-designed app offers. :)

Edit: I have downloaded and reinstalled, but don't have any QF flights currently booked to verify if the Booking Reference can be seen or not. ;)

There are two separate apps. There is no need to download and reinstall the current app. The old app, which is no longer available for download, is the app that you need. It's the one on the left. All I'm saying if you originally downloaded the old app, just reinstall it. There are issues with the old app basically being a mobile webpage, but at least it has greater functionality.

Now I understand. Only problem now is, I no longer have the older app. Hehehe.

If you previously had it, open the App Store, head to Updates, then Purchases and check the "Not on This iPhone" list.... you can download it from there ;)

It looks positively fugly on my iPhone 6 :p

Thanks! :)

Edit: Sadly, looks like I deleted it at some stage. Will see if I can wrangle another way to download it. ;)

Nope, definitely not listed

I'm pretty sure I had the old version because I remember seeing the icon change when I updated.

Or you have an even older version - my iPhone is on just 12 months old, so maybe that's it. (Yeah, I was late to the iPhone party. :D)

Flying BNE-PER tomorrow, booking is in the "My Trip" section and says "You are checked in" but I can't access the boarding pass.

There is the same problem with the Android version of the app. I just downloaded it a few weeks ago to my new Samsung S5 and could not believe it when I went to check the booking ref # on a booking that it wasnt there! I thought I must have been going mad and must just not be looking in the right place because who in their right mind would design an airline app that didnt even show your booking number!! DOH...
