Are you going to make me? All i posted is what has happend today, the truth, ill give links to every single one if you like. You just cant face that Qantas is going down big time.

Thats it from me, i am not returning to this thread. Ill be here for the next 50+ years so you will be seeing a lot more of me. Its only the beginning.

The people not the story.

At least we are applying some thought to the subject, rather that simply spouting a one track unvarying side of the story.

It's all very well being a supporter of an organisation, but the least you could do is try and grow another eye.

Jack you may think QF is "going down" and I am sure you are happy thinking that. But I can tell you it isn't going to happen. It would be a disaster if either VA or QF went down. Think I all the people out of work? The fact that we couldn't cope with 1 airline.

So what will you do when VA has industrial action?? Or is your hatred of QF made you that short sighted??

Hopefully in 50+ years the maturity of your posts will have grown

I haven't been here long but just reading from the first post here to the last, it sounds like a whole bunch of little boys in Kindergarten pointing the finger and having an almighty spat. You should all read every post in this thread and see what you think. This is a discussion from grown ups? I'd doubt it. Just an observation but if this is the way things are discussed here, well bye. Doesn't make anyone feel welcome.

I'd like to hear Jack's response if QF went down the tubes and VA suddenly put up all their fares as they would no longer have any competition. Because that's what would inevitably happen.

Jack,

Many people here have looked at the comparison between Qantas and Virgin Australia and I'm sure to any individual at any time it's possible to say one is performing better or worse than the others. The important thing is to use a valid comparison when we do the looking. IMHO that is not what you have done here.

The reality is that it is only valid to compare similar situations, which is not what you have done here.

I currently have a couple of personal situations that need addressing with Virgin Australia but they will be done through the right channels rather than by guessing what Qantas might have done in the circumstances. They are sufficiently severe that my daughter and her family are at the point of telling Virgin they want to have nothing further to do with them. How the issues are addressed will be the key to the story and that will be done in the next few days when cooler heads prevail.

Rising Sun,

Welcome to AFF. :D

Like everywhere else there are personalities at play that need to be balanced into the discussion. Add that to the entitlement of everyone to have their say and sometimes there are some 'interesting' (read that how you like) discussions.

Be assured that the moderation team watch these 'discussions' with interest and are proactive when necessary.

Wow Virgin is doing more nothing really!

One next plane delivered - Big Deal
New paint - Big deal
How is their domestic IFE rollout going ? Oh wait that's still NOT announced

Meanwhile Qantas is transporting many thousands more people than Virgin does DAILY

Rising Sun, it is not the first time that threads such as this have popped up. It gets a bit boring after a while.

Sorry Jack, DJ are not the only ones with new planes on the way. VZT is on its way down under. QF are in the process of upgrading their 747 interiors.
There will be a time when the unions cause Virgin headaches, it is naive to think otherwise.

Posts like the OP will always get the fish biting, so I don't get the surprise to the reaction?

Here fishy fishy fishy....

I have my doubts that Mr Jack Melon would ever chose to book a QF flight in the first place (based on his posts in general), I doubt he booked on a QF flight recently and then it underdelivered. So as Rising Sun has proven, is there any cause to keep a thread like this open and even on the forum? Sure we don't want to start needlessly censoring stuff, but on the other hand, threads like this make AFF seem far more hostile than it actually is.

Of course, then there's the un-stated information (or should I say 'It's not related to QF so we won't report it' - NoNews) of VH-XFB vs VH-XFA.

The staff have nicknames for these two birds (the 330's).

XFAwesome and XFBroken. Apparently XFB is *always* going u/s and being subbed out (many people here have been caught up in that).

DJ have problems too. I fail to see how 'Qantas is ridiculous' (and this from a QF WP who now pretty much only flies with DJ for all Domestic flights).

Your story of one flight that went well is on DJ incredibly compelling. Meanwhile QF got me from one side of the Pacific to the other safely only 30 minutes late after schedule despite some four strikes taking place (QF and non-QF staff), the CC were polite and helpful and there wasn't even any turbulence, they didn't lose my bag.

AFAIK Jacks last flight was on a Qantas group aircraft and unlike many others who post here (not that there is any compulsion), he took the time to contribute a report on his experience in the form of a trip report, thereby adding value to members new and old that may yet have had a similar experience.

Everybody is welcome to post their opinions on the subjects being discussed, but not comment or attack the personalities who may post, none of us know the background or context with which posts are made, or the motivation for their posts.

Can everybody please keep this in mind, new members are looking for knowledge based on experience, and given the age of this forum we are all likely to get far more out of it than we put in, but when we do put in make sure it's factual, referenced where possible and adds value to the reader old or new. And also please keep in mind that mental picture you have of a member you have not met may not match reality, in fact I have to say it rarely does, and is often a lot better in real life .

I think it's time to close this thread. I don't see it going anywhere, it has the potential to cause disharmony, and has very little value.

I really don't like closing down discussion, but quite frankly this type of thread is not something I encourage on AFF.
