Qantas iPhone site

Did anyone read about the iPhone specific Qantas website announced on 18 August? It was posted on the Sydney Morning Herald website.

Well, it's been three days since the announcement that the site was launched, and it still doesn't appear to be really launched. I've been checking using an iPhone, and it's just the same old Qantas website.

Has anyone else been able to locate the iPhone-optimised site?

Do you mean www.qantas.com/mobile as mentioned in the thread http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/travel-news/qantas-launches-iphone-site-14235.html

Re: Qantas iPhone site

The above is optimized for iPhone. Gives arrival & departure times. I could not see any personalization is login or bookings.

I did have trouble with the thumbwheels which are used to select the date. Wasn't fully compatible.

The site needs a quick 'just tell me about now!' type of button for when you are stuck in traffic and need an update.

Ps: this post is from iPhone.... So aff is compatible!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have tried the new application on my iTouch.

1) The fact that my iTouch is not automaticallly detetcted by the wesbite and switched through to the application is annoying. However I have now bookmarked http://www.qantas.com/mobile and it's manageble :)

2) The lounge and contacts information is very useful for when on the move.

3) The flight search feature is nice and easy to use.

That's about all there is to it. It's not overly packed with features. For things like FF points balances etc I think you need to use the regular website. Though maybe those sorts of features will arrives soon.

Searching a flight is quick and easy, quite useful which will be the main use i would imagine.

If anyone has any questions fire away.....

This thread needs translating to English. Safari, Blackberry's, Crackberry's, iPhones, iPods etc.  :-|

Looks like I walked into that one.

Somehow I do not think the translator is going to help make this thread any clearer although it has given some people laughs.

I read in one of the airline magazines, in a story about how much money has been saved by getting rid of paper tickets, that airlines are now looking at ways of getting rid of paper boarding passes. The story claimed that Qantas will be introducing technology that allows your mobile device (they used the iPhone as an example) as your pseudo-boarding pass, and it comes online early in '09.

Anyone?

Ooh - wonder if they will have a matching app and/or is it just a version of the website designed for viewing on iPhone safari (so iPod touch users can use it).

FYI There is a free BA app available on the App Store.

I attended the Cebit fair in Sydney at Darling Harbour. They SMS'd me my ticket which was a long digit number. To gain entry I put the face of my phone onto a scanner which read off the number.

Seemed easy.

I think they will have to have a boarding pass solution that reached to every mobile device in order to get the economies of the ubiquitous mobile phone.

Forgot to mention they still need a method so that the humble flight attendant can sort out seating problems.

There is also a free qantas app on the store as well. It is just the same as qantas.com/mobile, but there was an update the other day so it must be more then just a link to a website, I guess.

Does anyone use any of the paid flight apps?
