Hi,

I am flying to LAX in November from Brisbane i am just seeing if anyone would be kind enough to send me some qantas lounge access passes (not sure what they are called)

i would need 4 all up.

Please if you have any passes that you won't use could you please send them to me.

If you have any spare please PM me and i will supply postal address.

I'm not sure if you can purchase a one time access card or anything like that so if anyone could help me out that would be much appreciated ( i know with virgin blue you can buy a once off lounge access for $35)

Hi James,

You may find these a little hard to come by. There are not that many in circulation here as a lot of us have membership already. Another thing they may stop you getting responses is that you are rather new here with a low post count. It is a fairly tight knit comminuty we have here and we love to help out contributors if and when we can.

To solve your problem in the short term, I suggest you turn to ebay in the UK, there seems to be passes on there from time to time.

Regards,
V8

anyway i've looked on ebay UK nothing there for a while now.

james_c,

If you post your flight times and details maybe someone will be able to guest you into the lounges in a least some of the locations.

Those ones may not be a good buy as they expire end Oct 2008!

I saw that too, But it the only listing. Either that, or pay for a QC membership. (You can even get it at a discount by signing up as a gold member here first.)

That being said, though; people have often reported the expiry date not being taken into account......... and being let in anyway.

I have a complimentary Qantas Club pass valid until April 2009. Unfortunately I am not giving it away. PM me if you are interested.

At 4 by $30 to $50 each of value...$120-200 you don't want much do you???

Besides who would have 4???

These days you do not normally get guest passes and instead have the right to bring a guest in with you IF you are there.

Occassionaly one may be given one by Qantas...or with a Qantas QF card you can get two,,,but this costs money.

So as a suggestion between the 4 of you how about you get 2 Qantas Amex cards...spend the necessary dollars and then you will have your 4 passes.

If I was to give any of mine away (and I do)...I would only do it to someone I know as they have a value and cost me $$ to get.

lovetravellingoz,

A fairly harsh response in my opinion.

james_c, I still encourage people to ask because the worst that can happen normally is people get a NO answer.

I didn't think the response was that harsh. It was truthful. People come on here expecting something for nothing and there are a lot of generous people around but not always.

I get 2 complimentary Qantas Club passes a year from the Qantas Amex Premium card. I also pay an annual fee on this card which is increasing to ~$230/pa. I would expect some sort of compensation and I would only give the passes away to family or a very close friend.

JohnK,
Yes it was truthful. The OP has merely asked a question and you & I (and others) will always agree or disagree upon how appropriate that question may or may not be. I will always still encourage people to ask the questions :!:

Sorry Bill. I didn't think the response was too harsh but at the same time I would not want people to stop asking questions. Many times it adds value to the forum. Plus it is not up to us to determine whether a question is appropriate or not. That is up to the moderators and admin.

I don't think so. This is actually quite a common question. Many lurkers notice the generosity on this forum. Maybe 4 Qantas Club guest passes is a lot to ask for but it is also possible that some people think there is an abundance of complimentary Qantas Club guest passes and the people that give them out get them for free and have an endless supply.

Agreed.

That being said, 2 months later I've still had no luck so may have to end up sitting out in the terminal in December, when I go on my (not looking so good now thanks to currency!) shopping trip in Singapore with the parents.

Why harsh?

Firstly I was just pointing out that the passes:
* had quite a significant value and hence that asking for 4 such passes was quite a hefty ask.
* are in limited supply these days. As opposed to in the past under previous schemes where one was given say 10 passes every year and I and others would often got near years end with many unused passes which were freely given away.

Secondly I also pointed out a valid and easy way for the poster to get the 4 passes he desired.

So I don't think I was harsh...just informative.
