Qantas Lounge Access

it is also possible that some people think there is an abundance of complimentary Qantas Club guest passes and the people that give them out get them for free and have an endless supply.

Indeed.

Under previous systems as per my other post one was given a goodly number of guest passes each year which often went unused.

In both the Ansett Goldern Wing and QC I remember having passes left over each year ....and indeed I still have in a draw at home a bundle of Goldern Wing Club ones.

One reason for not using them was that on bringing guests in that door dragons often did not ask for them. When travelling with faimly ditto.....and on work flights many of my travelling partners were Club Members who did not need them.

Today passes are quite hard to come by and I keep them for special trearts or in case the door dragons enforce the one guest per QC member rule (I have 3 children...but so far so good).

Agreed.

That being said, 2 months later I've still had no luck so may have to end up sitting out in the terminal in December, when I go on my (not looking so good now thanks to currency!) shopping trip in Singapore with the parents.

I _may_ have one for you. I am not sure. Depend on how strict the SIN lounge dragons are in SIN for my mother, daughter and my mothers friend. If they all get in on 1 pass. Lucky you. If they need to use the 2, (I guess lucky them :))

Indeed! Thanks v8Statesman, let me know how you go.

One time I had two passes, one which was expired, and one was valid. I tried to enter the Sydney Domestic lounge on the expired one, and they checked the date, and said its no longer valid. So I used the second one to get in.
I have since gotten QC Membership from work since I travel a lot.

You have to weigh up paying for the one off entry, vs what you'll get out of it. In a standard lounge there isn't that much you actually would get for the money, unless you plan on getting drunk before boarding :)

Remember also, that the at certain times the lounges get real busy. I've been using the Brisbane lounge quite frequently, and on some afternoons there is more people inside the lounge than outside, and its pretty hard to even get a set. Would be money wasted if you happened to fly on one of those days.

Good Luck.
