Definitely open. Was in it last week.

Re RSA two drink limit just happened upon this in QF BNE J lounge today. Not to me, but I was waiting at the bar and a bloke came up ordered like 4 coughaz's, 3 G&T's and a partridge in a pear tree and the barkeep told him the "I can only serve two alcoholic drinks at one" line.. then helpfully added "If you can find someone to come up with you to collect the drinks I can serve you that order....

so the staff are definitely following QLD RSA rules.. and good on 'em if they're all being consistent I reckon.

My experience has been like this for quite a number of years. And not just in QLD.

Sometimes they let you point at your table (with other people) to increase the limit.

Some of us remember when that VA OOL lounge was the Qantas Club! QF made a mistake ceding that space and the subsequent OOL QC has never recovered IMHO.

ah yes, back when QF decided to turn OOL Orange and thought the need for a QC was minimal.... I think ignoring the huge demand for QF mainline and QC from corporate types with a lot of business travel (including conference junkets etc) and then reversed the decision and ramped up mainline services..

so yes most of the time the QC is a zoo (and I don't mean the kids running around lol)

I must be getting old - my recollection of the OOL QP was a small area to the south end of the terminal at ground level with wicker furniture which opened out to an outdoor section with a few palms.

The VA lounge was built on top of the airport extension, when the building moved closer towards the runway/tarmac, basically where all the tarmac gardens and old undercover walk ways once were - that is now terminal.

The Qantas Club is pretty much where it always was, it's just that with said extension of the terminal outlined above, it lost its window views, as more terminal was placed there instead of the outside gardens/walkways.

See all the shiny new roof on the left of the terminal in the picture above - that all use to be open space with the gardens set amongst the walkway to the aircraft stands. And the Qantas Club was right on the edge of that old part (which is why you remember windows) - but now that same location is in the middle of the extended terminal building, so windowless.

The Virgin lounge is located on the southern end, up on the second level of the new part (under the shiny new roof) - so totally brand new(ish), with tarmac views
