Qantas lounge shoe policy - this is concerning

It's not QF though. They have a dress code that apparently does not permit thongs to be worn in some lounges. The lounge dragons are the ones that are struggling with the term thongs. It seems fairly simple to most and if they persist with the policy (which I hope they do), before long, all the dragons and the vast majority of regular lounge guests will know the expectation.
I don't think the particpants of this thread have a common understanding of what constitutes 'thongs'. The lounge staff seem to have a good understanding, but it is all the egde cases that people throw up that are causing problems.

I wonder how much of this drama would've been avoided if the person had some sort of doctor's note with them explaining the footwear rather than going with "trust me".

Awesome as a GP I look forward to this exciting new version of "get a note from your doctor" (so you can make a free toasted sandwich with wine of your choice).

Today and Sunrise Man on Gold Coast saves truck driver from burning truck, his foot ware thick 2 inch thongs. Modest hero ....... Thong wearing can't be all bad! :p

It's hard to imagine a more blatant example of an "it's all about me" personality than Joe Bloggs genuinely getting incensed at what others are wearing and complaining about it for years on end. It's not about you Joe. Stop projecting your "it's all about me" personality onto others - it only applies to you!
And I thought I was alone!

Man refused entry into SYD Qantas Lounge this afternoon wearing black rubber thongs. I was walking out when I saw him with his things all over the floor putting on ankle high dress boots. Just as well he had some in carryon luggage. ;)

Well, for one...I'm still waiting for Worksafe rated "Steelcapped Thongs" for those coastal construction site visits !!!

Currently have a set of Boots in 3 states,
if they were 'steelcap thongs' then just need for One pair in carryon ;-)

I had a pair of steel-capped clogs issued when I worked in Norway many years ago.
Comfortable enough, but not too practical at -20C.

Not sure what this guy in row 3 was wearing in the lounge last night.
