Travel Guru and I are on the same flight pairs, presume MattinCBR as well. Grogan, are they flying you TSV/BNE/MEL or TSV/SYD/MEL?

It will be TSV/BNE/MEL the only direct flights are with JQ. The email that I received offered to fly me from BNE on on Tuesday morning. The red eye out of TSV would not connect with the 7am out of BNE. So am awaiting a reply re flying Monday.

Coming back looks like I'm on QF822, (dept MEL @ 19:05). Just asked to see if I can be placed on QF811 for the flight down there. Will let you know the answer.

Returning to CBR same flight. Have same request into Qantas on flight to MEL.

Updated list to here (more as a reminder to me, than anyone).

dfcatch
has had the same problem (he's going to SYD event) as you Grogan - he's coming from CNS and got advised flights ex-BNE :o. He is now awaiting a resolution.

You'll need to give a trip report include photos of the lounges...

I hope Yarratrams will provide a meal voucher for the delays that I am sure to encounter, (which seems to be everyday).

Have any locals received details yet?

I'm hoping for an upgrade, but can't work out which of Yarratrams or Metro would give me the best chance? :)

You could come in on a Vline then, on some services they offer "First Class". :P First Class

You can dine on fine food (Microwaved meat pie) and it has a tray table, all in a sub 1980's seat & carriage. :D

Maybe tomorrow.

Now what to wear?!?

Hopefully! I've arranged to have the day off work. Going to be warm so it should be a nice day, but maybe not warm enough for a dress.

They are obviously a little more concerned with getting the out-of-towners there first ;).

This is what the email says (so MEL-based invitees, just skip down and start reading after the flight details :o)

I assumed as much, just wanted to be sure :D

Dam.

Maybe I should not have excluded myself from the contest as this looks like it is going to be great.

Best wishes to everyone attending. The rest of us will look on in envy. :(

I just received my QF email.

Flying in from ADL

Depart ADL 0730 - QF674; Arriving MEL 0920

Depart MEL 1815 - QF697;

I'm SG so I can guest into the QP but would be open to be guested into the J lounge.

Happy to share transport from MEL Airport - City - MEL Airport if anyone is interested.

I assumed as much; my comment was firmly tongue-in-cheek!

Here's hoping for an op-up  (once again tongue-in-cheek but I'll take it if it happens)
As I mentioned in the SYD thread in the spirit of the event you will have troubles pre-allocating seats and must sit in a middle seat down the back.

I think chances of an upgrade are good. Just use your imagination. ;)

It looks like the out of towners will be getting to the city about 10am. I will aim to head to DeGraves St about then for those who are interested.
