Qantas Loyalty MEL lunch (03SEP13) attendees thread

Am heading to the Crown metropol sky bar at 5 for a couple of pre dinner drinks if anyone wants to meet up.

The CBR contingent arrive at 10.20pm, so you could wait for them if you want and I'll get Skybus. I'm presuming the PER contingent will have arrived today (tonight).

Happy to share cab. It is probably cheaper than Skybus if 4 people.

interested how many of you have met each other before ? bound by a love of travel (or flying).
wondering who travels mainly for work, and who because they love seeing the world :) (im mainly the later).

Met a couple of people before. I am also mainly the latter.

Lucky ducks! And for whomever asked, you don't need to remember your questions :)

Yeah, I've met a few AFFers before, inc one who is coming tomorrow, :D

I'm planning on wearing my HKG suit sans tie, because (at least in my own mind) I look damn good in it, plus I don't really have "smart casual" at home, I go from slob to prince without stopping in-between

A return taxi fare split 4 ways would need to be cheaper than $112 total for it to be cheaper than skybus ($28 return), plus it would need to be 30 minutes or better (that's pretty much the max time it takes via skybus even if you've just missed one).

I'll no doubt post on this thread when we arrive at MEL airport tomorrow and if others are around we can work out getting to / from the city then.

Sorry Kiwi, I was very unclear in my previous response. Flying Fox and I will share a maxicab with the Queenslanders and have a coffee with Jessica Tam et al prior to the lunch. I will be returning by Skybus after the lunch as I already have the return portion of a ticket from my last trip to Melbourne.

I've met 3 others going to the MEL lunch and 4 going to the SYD lunch. My work travel is all domestic, holidays are overseas.

I have a (flexible) 10.30am appt with a client at 607 Bourke Street, so I will be bound by whether I can get the 9.45am Skybus or get the Maxi with the other BNE/ADL people and get dropped of somewhere in the CBD. I'll miss most of the pre-meet organised by JessicaTam. Probably will walk straight to lunch.

Here comes another one of my outrageous suggestions - how about the MEL J lounge?

I arrive at 9:20am tomorrow. I figure if 3 or 4 share a cab then it will be cheaper than the skybus. Does anyone want to share a cab?

The ADL attendees (you and Flying Fox) arrive at 9.20am, then us 4 from BNE at 9.35am (QF609). You two could meet us off the plane and the 6 of us share a Maxi to DeGraves on Flinders Street (I'm trying to see 1 client in MEL, so you could drop me at/near Rialto North or I could walk from Flinders).

I'm easy with anything. Sorry, I should rephrase that - I'm flexible with anything & happy to share a cab/maxi-taxi with a group.

Unfortunately for me I'll be coming directly from work, so will be heading directly to Rockpool just before 12, otherwise would have loved to have caught up before hand, also means once the lunch is finished I have to go back to work, boooo.... :( but still looking forward to the lunch.
btw- check your PM's sent you my number. :)
Still got it from the return to OOL run.
I'm taking the day off
The joys of shift work. I am still enjoying my weekend.

I think I earned 20 SC this year from work related travel (that work didn't pay for)!

We will see you at lunch then.

Sorry I can't be more specific about where to meet coffee in Degraves St, but it will depend on the crowd on the day. There are a multitude of cafes to choose from!

Today and Thursday are my only work days this week. I'll message you when I reach the city to find out where you are.

I fly I from Brisbane on qf613 arriving into Melbourne at 11.25. Will grab a cab straight to the event. Taking qf689 through Adelaide departing melbourne at 15.40 connecting to qf595 through to perth.

I wish I could stay longer. A relaxing night at crown with a cruisey breakfast and then the lunch topped off with a few drinks and back to perth would have been ideal however work unfortunately has forced my hand

No worries. We will get there. Looking forward to the big lunch tomorrow.

I will head for Degraves St off Flinders St about 10ish.
Aargh, what to wear?!?
So to make it really simple (as me in skirt or dress would not be pretty) do I need to wear panda ears! (I must say I have worn them thru 10+ airports in my PJ's (much to the utter dismay of my wife and 2yo son)

I could be wrong, and probably am (I'm terrible at remembering handles), but I think I've only met one other attendee (QF WP, a long long time ago).

I'd say about 60-70% of my travel is for work, 30-40% for leisure. Would much prefer the figures be the other way around (whilst keeping or increasing the same level of travel :D).

I'd love to join you guys for breakfast before but as I'm coming in early to head to the office, I'll see you all at Rockpool Bar & Grill. Probably need to leave by 3, 3:15ish to leave myself enough time to catch the 4:30pm back to SYD (seems I'm on one of the earlier flights out).

Looking forward to it! :)

Cheers,
- Febs.
