It’s a pity they didn’t celebrate the anniversary by doing the flight again with one of the small dash 8s. They could have put some hammocks in where seats were (and call them H suites) and offer seats as award redemptions for the truly addicted!

Qantas is today celebrating 90 years of international flying, marking an incredible milestone in the evolution of the aviation industry and nine decades of connecting Australia with the world.

On 17 April 1935, Qantas operated Australia’s first international passenger flight from Brisbane to Singapore, carrying two customers on a DH86 aircraft. The flight took three and a half days with 16 stops along the way
