I have a bone to pick with Qantas after their great partnership with Emirates. The amount of Qantas metal (planes ) flying from perth internationally has reduced to basically the Perth Singapore route and the timing of those flights doesn't suit business professionals with a mid morning flight departure from Perth. I've flown left Perth on International flights 27 times last year and have built up 3560 Status points since April 13. That doesn't include the many flights I had with Singapore airlines under the Star Alliance. Under many other threads, the number of international Qantas metal flights from Perth has diminished exponentially since the Emirates partnership. Realistically Qantas is focussing on the east coast of Australia.
As my only option is to choose other One World airlines like Cathay and Malaysian and after much argument from my corporate travel agent with Qantas who basically say, Why doesn't Mr xx_XX fly from Perth to Melbourne to Hong Kong? Why would I add another 6 -8 hrs to my Journey because Qantas have shutdown Perth - Hong Kong direct flights. Anyway I'm about to hit Platinum One Status in the next 2 weeks and considering whether I fly Emirates or Cathay to New York/ London, as Qantas will not give me Platinum One status because I haven't booked enough flights with Qantas. Not my fault if Qantas cancel virtually all International Qantas metal planes going out of Perth due to an east coast centric policy.
I feel that Perth based loyal Qantas customers should be given some dispensation re the need for flying Qantas branded flights or original bookings through Qantas regarding their status points. If Qantas still flew to Hong Kong then I would have flown 11 times with them last year and if they had flights to Singapore which were suited to business travel times, e.g.: evenings, then I may not have flown Singapore Airlines 9 times last year.
By end of March based on current Journey's planned I'll reach about 4300 status credits for my 12 month eligibility period.
Come on Qantas give serious travellers a fair go with respect to status credits and eligibility. 1103451
